The pro-Obama American Bridge super PAC is out with a new web video Tuesday poking fun at House Republicans over the National Republican Congressional Committee meeting with aides of incumbent lawmakers to train them in "messaging against women opponents."
The NRCC effort is meant to prevent lawmakers from making crippling gaffes like Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) saying that the female body has a way of shutting down a pregnancy if it's the result of "legitimate rape."
The American Bridge video splices together clips of Republican lawmakers making eyebrow raising statements such as State Treasurer Richard Mourdock (R) saying that pregnancy resulting from rape is still "something that God intended to happen." Other lawmakers in the video include former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA), Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ( R).
"So remember, you don't need to change your conservative views just because women voters find them horribly offensive," a voiceover in the video concludes. "Just change how you talk about them."

(14,087 posts)The format is correct, but the message isn't clear enough about the repercussions their positions behind the gaffes. They needed to play up more the issue of a woman not knowing enough about her own life to determine if she should carry her child, and the invasion of a PROBE that so many GOPers are guilty of pushing on women.
It seems our liberal dollars are limited, and I'd like to see them make some really clear, unmistakable points about the differences in the parties. They don't like government, except when it can invade a woman's body.
China forced abortions (which would also be nice to point out) and the GOP forces pregnancy. There are all different directions to take to inform and, yes, create appropriate outrage.

(94,751 posts)American Bridge certainly supports the President, but it is not a "Pro-Obama" Super PAC. It is Pro-Democratic, and much of its effort is targeted at key 2014 Senate Races and the 2016 Presidential field.
(nb - I know David Brock, and American Bridge is the only Super PAC I give substantial money to).

those Idiots would like this swept under the rug but American Bridge is not having it. This will be very instructional in 2014 GOTV!
