CAITLIN MACNEAL DECEMBER 4, 2013, 2:42 PM EST
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) said Wednesday that it is in the Middle Eastern culture to lie during negotiations.
"In the Middle Eastern culture, it is looked upon with very high regard to get the best deal possible no matter what it takes -- and that includes lying," Hunter said in an interview with C-SPAN. "That's one reason that these Gulf states like to work with the United States -- because we're honest and transparent and we have laws that we have to live by."
When asked if he felt that everyone in the Middle East are liars, Hunter said "not necessarily all Middle Eastern countries" lie.
In talking about the interim nuclear deal with Iran, Hunter said that the Iranian government is not a rational actor.

GOP Rep.: Nuke Iran If War Is Necessary
CAITLIN MACNEAL DECEMBER 4, 2013, 12:39 PM EST
Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) said Wednesday that if the U.S. needs to use the military option against Iran, America should deploy its "tactical nuclear devices."
"I think if you have to hit Iran, you don't put boots on the ground. You do it with tactical nuclear devices, and you set them back a decade or two or three," Hunter said in an interview with C-SPAN. "I think that's the way to do it -- with a massive aerial bombardment campaign."
Hunter said he wasn't sure whether war with Iran was inevitable, but when asked if he felt military action would be necessary, he said, "I sure as hell hope not."
The representative said that any war with Iran would be a "huge undertaking," and that he thinks the U.S. will be cautious about military action after the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

(18,184 posts)I also think it's funny when you hear the MSM talking about "hardliners" and "reformers" in Iranian politics. It's the same in American politics.

Naturally a lying member of a party founded on lies would think everyone else is lying.

(28,270 posts)They want perpetual war.
Its damn good business for their war industries backers and the poor American kids who get to use those weapons are maimed and killed for profits because got no where else to go except walmart or mcdonalds for a lifetime career!
We have by far the largest military in the world and there are many many people in power who want to use it!
The teabags are backed by "Christian" fascists who preach dominion theology and Christian reconstructionists who want to burn down this world ASAP. Millions and millions of horrible deaths of innocent by war are of no concern to these "pro-life" people!
