If THIS isn't McAuliffe's first priority as Governor, he needs some talking to

KILL the voter disenfranchisement laws (to the extent possible, considering he might have to contend with a Republican AG and legislature), or render them ineffective. Restore the right to vote to as many people in Virginia as he possibly can. Clear the way for a Democratic successor. That would be the best legacy he could leave behind him, no matter what else he does a Governor.

.....he said his priorities for Virginia were to upgrade public education, and build jobs rooted in the future, not in the past. (paraphrase)

I immediately knew this was a globalist agenda and it gave me a clue about Hillary 2016. Globalism.

continuing to disembowel public schools and turn this over to for-profit cronies. The only difference with McAuliffe is that it will be Dem cronies instead of GOP cronies that get that big payday.

It is wrong wrong to take away a person's right to vote after they have served their time.

Rigged voting machines and suppressed voting rights of Democrats are the equivalent of life support to the Republican Party in much of the country these days.

McDonnell says state has restored rights of record 6,800 felons
Richmond Times-Dispatch Richmond Times-Dispatch

Gov. Bob McDonnell said today that the civil rights of 6,874 Virginians have been restored during his tenure, 1,577 since July 15, when he began automatically restoring rights for nonviolent felons on an individual basis.

“I strongly believe in second chances and redemption. It is a fundamental part of the American way,” McDonnell said in a statement.

“Our efforts on prisoner re-entry and the restoration of rights are working. When an individual has done their time, and paid their fines, costs, and other obligations, they deserve the opportunity to rejoin our democracy in full.”

McDonnell announced in May that beginning July 15 he would automatically restore the voting rights of nonviolent felons on an individual basis.

This is great news but I think it should be across the board restoration.

But there are still about 350,000 disenfranchised people in the state who have completed their sentences, according to The Sentencing Project's 2012 report, which used 2010 numbers.
