Ted Cruz advises Trayvon Martin’s mom to just chill and take one for Team Black

Soulless approximation of a human being Ted Cruz (R-Ted Cruz) showed up for work today at that business he tried to burn to the ground a few weeks ago and his first order of business was to sociopathsplain to Trayvon Martin’s mom that her son’s murder was more of a bug – a dead bug – than a feature of Florida’s Stop! Bang! Bang! Bang! Or I’ll Shoot law:

With Trayvon Martin’s mother sitting just across from him, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) claimed that Stand Your Ground is beneficial for African-Americans. At the Tuesday Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing, Cruz claimed, “In Florida, the data show that African-American defendants have availed themselves of the Stand Your Ground law more frequently than Anglo defendants.” Indirectly citing a Daily Caller story that said black defendants were successful in 55 percent of fatal cases compared to 53 percent of whites, Cruz said this “isn’t about inflaming racial tensions though some might try to use it to do that.”

Hell yeah, Daily Caller! It’s not like they weren’t invested in taking Trayvon Martin and creating a portrait of a gangbanger as a young man while they’re subletting out some sweet beachfront online real estate to the NRA.

For added hilarity, the GOP invited noted data cooker and occasional online female impersonator John Lott to say some vaguely truthy sounding stuff in an effort to reassure Trayvon’s mom that, although things could possibly have worked out a little bit better for her kid, hey, the law is there for your own protection, so suck it up, lady:
