What do YOU think really happened in Bengazi?

I believed most questions were answered already, until the "60 Minutes" program last night, and Chris Matthews and a few other MSNBC shows tonight.

I talked to me son when that all happened. He's stationed at NAS Sigonella where help would have originated for Bengazi. He said people don't realize just how far away Bengazi IS from any assistance, and by the time jets were scrambled and anyone could have gotten there, the attack was over.

1. I belive there was a covert CIA operation in the back of the "embassy" facilities

and that was the reason for its existence. I do also believe a rumor got started that about 3 prisoners captured from opposition forces were being held there and that is what prompted the original attack. Those who attacked wanted to rescue those prisoners.

So it follows if this is correct, that this is why the Administration was reluctant to give too many details. However, there was a release of information confirming that the Ambassador had been offered additional security shortly before the attack, and he turned the offer down. I believe he made the decision he thought was best, but that decision cost him is life. He was a true hero in so many ways.

you're bound to get hit by a truck-----any US embassy is a target---and no President or SOS would sit idly by a let people get killed-----short answer --no one was at fault---it's the cost of doing business when you are a world cop--

any more than the shooting tragedies here are the fault of the local PD---

as the Ambassador and his security found out, they rode to the sounds of the guns. Its even more than 633 miles from Bengazi "consult office" to Tripoli "the hardened Embassy", where the first responders would have come from too.

It just ticks me off that the Pubs keep wanting to put all the blame on Hillary, and now "60 Minutes", and MSNBC seem to be fueling the fire for them.

The Republicans obviously think that there was some kind of conspiracy/cover-up though they can't seem to actually articulate why or what the motivation is/was and you'd think that by now somebody would've blown the lid off the whole thing, especially since the Republicans run the House and could've done whatever they wanted to do to attack/embarrass the President over it. Why is that a year later, they have been unable to come up with anything more than a series of insinuations? BTW I heard from Media Matters that that guy from 60 minutes had previously shopped his story to Fox News FOX NEWS!!! and they realized that he was only out for money and dropped him like a hot potato, so obviously 60 Minutes wasn't very picky: http://mediamatters.org/blog/2013/10/28/60-minutes-benghazi-eyewitness-asked-fox-news-f/196623

The RWNJs are DESPERATE for anything to attack President Obama over. 60-70 embassy staff died in terror attacks during W's reign of error and I don't recall McCain, Graham, et. al grandstanding over those attacks and threatening to grind government to a halt over them. Rank hypocrisy is what is at the core of all of this IMHO. They need to put up some credible accusation and prove it to us or they need to STFU about it IMHO

I lay it flat out to my Right Wing friends and family in a way it soaks in from their perspective: Do you honestly believe this President that you feel is so politically conniving and calculated would risk his re-election/Presidency just mere weeks out by NOT responding to a military situation as negligently as those idiots on the radio say he responded? Jaws drop and they tend to agree.

I think the communication and political aftermath of the attack could have been handled better from the Administration's perspective. It left a lot for the idiots on the Right to attack with and had staying power. But the GOP (Issa in particular) and the Conservative Media Echo Chamber overplayed their hand in the matter. They drove it into the ground and jumped the shark pretty quickly. The "scandal" has broken down because there was simply nothing there to begin with. It was a tragedy plain and simple. The more the GOP continues ramming Benghazi down the throats of the American people the more it is exposed for the desperate political ploy that it is.

IMO Bengazi was a really big screw-up, but it was the Rethugs with their pet mole Petraeus leading the screw-up parade. He had something to do with it, I have no doubt(and no proof either just my tin foil hat). When I watched the live statements of the President and SOS Clinton, they were both sad but, absolutely white lipped furious about something. I think Petraeus set up the Ambassador. He is lucky they only got him on the moral issue. The rethugs were trying to pull a stunt like Reagan did with the hostages.

Then, within fairly short order, one after another military big wigs were forced to resign after being caught doing something illegal, unethical, immoral or against the military code. The rot is still being cleaned out, like the guy recently caught with bogus gambling chips.

Look how the President handled Romney in the debates over this, "Proceed, Governor".

Graham and McCain are still hammering this garbage because they feel invulnerable, as they do not think the Pres will reveal what really happened, but I think they are playing with fire. I do not think PBO or HRC have forgotten the horrible and completely unnecessary death of their friend. Karma is not a nice lady sometimes.

Now, everybody can take off their tinfoil hats. Carry on.
