1. It may be just an unintended consequence of the oppressive, anti-democratic law.

But it's true - a man's name never changes, but woman's does if she gets married, and maybe then divorced, then maybe married again....you get the picture.

4. The law intends to disenfranchise anyone who isn't a white male, i.e. may vote for a Democrat.

Poor choice of words on my part maybe...I meant that the law is broader than that; but women are part of it.

7. What did we ever do for 200+ years without voter ID?

One might conclude that our governments for 200+ were built on a house of fraud. Where the hell is "Voter ID" in the Constitution?

8. The GOP will never change

After the last election, there was a mass move to change the republican party. They said they would do this, do that. IE: We need to corral in more Hispanic voters. Yeah right. So here we are today. Women can't sue for equal rights? Equal pay? Yeah, they've changed alright. NEVER!!!! They are against everything good for this country, especially when it comes to equal rights. They are racist, fear mongering people, and its all about me, me, me. What you've seen in the past 2 years is exactly what the party represents. They will NEVER change. NEVER!!!

Hopefully the party will self destruct by the next election.

One can only hope

12. A Pole at the end of a man's property was a way of census and voting in the Old South.

Here is story of a community size pole raising in Iowa for Abraham Lincoln (written in 1925).

http://iagenweb.org/henry/History/lincolnpole.htm

Voting was for Oldest White Male owning the property. (More research would render how the pole was turned or use would indicate how the property owner had voted or number of family members if it was a census. The pole, back then, was like a poll or census today.

There may be research on the poles of Stonehenge in England as a Family Marker or Message system for those passing instead of going all over the country to inquire about a subject.

KKK could have secret meetings after reading the, Message Board, on the poles by riding down the road on a horse/car in the Old South.
