Tea Party Leader Suggests Class Action Lawsuit Against Homosexuality

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/18/rick-scarborough-lawsuit-homosexuality_n_4124195.html?ir=Politics

Former Baptist pastor and Tea Party Unity founder Rick Scarborough spoke with conservative activist Peter LaBarbera on Thursday about potential anti-gay strategies, including a class action lawsuit against homosexuality.

“The whole issue of a class action lawsuit, you and I have talked about this a little bit,” Scarborough told LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, in a conversation at a Tea Party Unity gathering Thursday. People For the American Way’s Right Wing Watch, a progressive advocacy group that monitors and reports on conservative political organizations, posted a partial transcript and audio recording of the discussion.

Scarborough said he believes homosexuality and tobacco companies should be equally vulnerable to class action lawsuits.

"Jumped the shark" just does not suffice. Crazier than shithouse rats? Not good enough. Certifiably insane? Maybe, but it still doesn't capture the essence of their ignorance.

Nothing against people who really need straitjackets, just a nice verbal turn.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Would just love to see how they file such a suit, what legal grounds they claim, etc... and then to watch any judge in the country laugh them out of the courtroom.

Unfortunately, I think this is all just blowing smoke for their ignorant listeners, who will send $$$ to "support the cause." The people running the dog & pony show know such a lawsuit is laughable, but it may well be a very successful fundraising tactic.

does this "mental giant" propose to do this? and, more importantly, is there enough alcohol in the world to make this idea even remotely comprehensible??

and say that something about her strikes me as pro-gays. Then I realized it is the fact that I think Lady Gaga looks like her so I got confused by the two.

Adultery, sex before marriage, multiple divorce, and even masturbation are far more likely to degrade their notions of marriage than gay marriage.

therefore it is traditional...it was the rise of Christian missionaries that tried to end those unions. Africa used to be an open pool for gay marriage until missionaries spread the idea it was evil. Many "culturally ancient" tribes had gay marriage in Africa --- The rise of modernity and adoption of christian "values" changed all that.

I should have qualified by further pointing out what I meant. I was referring to what they claim is their definition and practice of marriage. That is not necessarily the same as either the actual state of marriage or their own practice of it.

Looking at it from their point of view, playing what Peter Elbow calls "the believing game," their time would be far better spent bolstering their own adherence to their stated belief in "traditional marriage," and here again I refer to their own definition of that term.
