Brisk turnout seen in N.J. special election

New Jersey voters are going to the polls Wednesday for a special election to choose a successor to the late U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

Turnout appears to be brisk as voters cast ballots for Democrat Cory Booker, Republican Steve Lonegan or six minor candidates.

At Audubon's Municipal Building, poll workers also reported a brisk turnout for an off-date election.

They said the first vote had been cast at 6 a.m. and that more than 100 had been recorded by 11:30 a.m.

Volunteers Ronnie and Bob Beetle said the turnout was in contrast to June's primary election, when voters arrived in alone or in pairs in an unsteady stream throughout the day.

I've been absent from NJ for this whole senate race, but I mailed my ballot last week for Booker.

Three people ahead of me when I got there, three people on line when I left the booth, passed two more people on my way out the door!

regardless of who you voted for. Seriously, there are too many people who don't even bother.

at my polling place where I live in South Jersey (my town went for The President a little over 50% in the last election). I voted right after work.
