(3,073 posts)It's a mystery to me as to why anyone would vote for Booker and still support Christie...

(31,824 posts)That's why. And the national Democratic Money People and Leadership have not even tried to help us with the Governor's seat in Trenton. Barbara Buono is almost the PERFECT Progressive. She's really fabulous. But it's been all grass roots efforts. And now - yesterday I was diagnosed with the beginnings of pneumonia - which means I can't be out there doing what needs to be done. But I've put up a strong effort and have to let the chips fall where they may.
That said - next month there will be a line on ballot to vote to raise the minimum wage. By attaching herself to that - Buono could pick up some of the Democratic block that might sit home if there is nothing in it for them.
Christie is a wimp. We did NOT have to have this election today. He was just afraid of Booker being a draw for Democratics coming to the polls next month.
And don't believe anything the national media tells you about how Christie HAD to have this election - in October that is costing us millions of dollars we don't have to waste. That money could have provided property tax relief to homeowners. He chose to piss it away. Read this - goes back to last summer but gives insight into why Christie was allowed to pull this stunt.

(5,066 posts)He didn't want to be on same ballet as Booker.Booker Is going to win by at least 10 points.Christie wants to win by huge margain a spart of his plans to run for president In 2016.Booker being on same ballet could mean the governor's race wouldn't be a blowout. So christie Is making the state pay for a special election In october when that could be held when the govenror's race Is In november.
It amazes me why dems aren't more against Christie In NJ.He's no moderate as the MSM tries to claim. He's a bully attacking hard
working people who are In unions and his anti-Gay attitude.

I know there are a lot of folks at DU nail biting over Booker but that's in the bag. I'm not throwing in the towel on Buono until Christie is announced the winner.
And after her debate performance last night - I'd be a loser quitter defeatist if I did. She's the PERFECT Progressive.

(13,190 posts)Fatso is no moderate the only reason he seems not as crazy as the rest of the nuts in the rethug party is because he has democratic Senate and State democratic congress that's keeping him in check in this state. There was a rethug in the state assembly who tried to introduce a new voter ID law but the dems smacked that down IMMEDIATELY!!!

(4,551 posts)Last night's final poll shows Booker leading 54-40, but it's still a reminder that politicians should never take anything for granted until they are elected.
I don't think his supporters should have been promoting him as a Presidential candidate - way too soon for that.
Wait until voters actually choose you as their Senator before planning your next run. Some of his people got a bit overconfident about the size of the victory. Still, he's likely to win by double-digits tonight, despite what the Tea Party thinks.
Palin was in New Jersey over the weekend with Lonegan. I wonder if she actually thinks he is going to win? She'll be set straight tonight!
