Stu Rothenberg: "Last week I observed that I hadn't yet seen 'compelling evidence' that a Democratic political wave could be developing. I can no longer say that after seeing the recently released NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll."

(32,017 posts)Consider this jewel:
Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA) told Roll Call that Republicans were "absolutely" prepared to lose the House to extract concessions from President Obama and he said the White House is "missing the determination of the Republican Party."
Said Gingrey: "I mean, they seem to think that we will miss this opportunity for a 'Braveheart' moment to do the right thing for the American people and that we'll back down for fear of losing the House and not gaining control of the Senate."

They're willing to commit political suicide to get their way? Really? A Braveheart moment? These folks have lost it.

(53,661 posts)This is more than a year away from the mid terms.
Plenty of time for ANYTHING to happen.
Republicans are drama queens and there always is breathless speculation about their political prospects from the "liberal media" be it parroting their permanent majority meme after the Bush win or all the wondering about how they will make a comeback.
They hate democrats and especially the POTUS.
This will end and they will find some Benghazi like bullshit to rally around and get the media hacking on the President democrats.
You can book it.

(5,049 posts)I'm sure they will. Plus, February is in the heart of the primary season - so refighting this battle then may work to our advantage. I suspect the Baggers, the Birchers, and the Neo-Confederates will still be willing to destroy our country to serve their ends until they are voted out of office.
One thing has changed - America no longer broadly sees them as a legitimate political force. The more stunts they pull the more folks will be convinced they are a cancer on the body politic.

(26,060 posts)(acknowledging that it will happen again) - the pubbies will keep trying to run to eachother's right flank and that always helps the Democrats. They'll wind up with more O'Donnell's and Murdock's.

(53,661 posts)Where did you get that out of my post? I said it is exactly what they will do again, and again. Maybe you meant to reply to someone else?
After that part, I agree with all you said. But I think the media are still a bunch of shills and are not going to help us a bit as it isn't on their script.

(35 posts)These polls are awfully early and truer numbers will come a few after this dissipates a bit, but two newest polls have Rep. Lee Terry and Sen. Mitch McConnell behind.

WE shall see over the next few weeks. However, these kind of immediate numbers should either increase the quality candidates for the DEMS, draw further right wing whackies, and increase fund raising for DEMS in these areas.

(81,304 posts)Glad you're here! Also, Terry McAuliffe is pulling away from ken cuccinelli in Virginia. His lead is widening. AND we nailed down the New Jersey Senate seat last night, too. Might just be a trend developing here, although I do hope I'm not speaking too soon. Let's drain the swamp next November!!!

(35 posts)Appreciate the welcome. We just added the Virginia poll. Early today we added a Nebraska congressional poll. If anything, what may happen is an inspiration of the right fringe to challenge incumbents and the more that win the better for the DEMS.
