2016 Postmortem

(maybe I need to stop listening to MSNBC, Ed Schultz...).
I do believe that history will record these attempts by Republicans (and I include all of them, not only the tea party adherents) to sabotage our economy as baseless, imbecilic, ego-fueled, perhaps permanently destructive of our supposed American position of world leadership.
However, in the short term, as these efforts to frustrate the will of the people continue, accelerate, and are supported by a certain portion of our population (you should see my FB. Should I unfriend 1/2 my family and friends from other areas of life?), we need sorely to awaken and revolt against them.
It is undemocratic and downright TREASONOUS for them to refuse to accept and regard the WILL of the PEOPLE which was clearly demonstrably established in the last two national elections where ACA in some form was clearly on the ballot. I think - hope - it comes back to bite these Republicans in the butt from here to eternity.
They are doing everything they can to tarnish and take down Pres. Obama's presidency. They will impeach if they think they can. Look at the Colorado recalls of Democratic legislators: they don't need a legitimate reason. They are manipulating and PERVERTING the system, STEALING ELECTIONS to suit their agendas. Worthy of any banana republic. Maybe worse.
That's all I can say at this point. I am running out of epithets. I am frustrated, angered, disappointed, beyond belief. I guess I'm lucky I live in a state where MJ was legalized for personal use.

(21,115 posts)there is a big difference. But they are subverting and violating the very purpose of Democracy. They are exploiting what they perceive as a loophole. They think because what they are doing is not breaking a law that they are in the clear. But they have walked right up to the very line.

Can you briefly outline the difference for me?
Hey - happy about Yellen? I don't know much about her, but it sounds like she's a good one - Dem. 1st in years.

So it needs to be a conspiracy to actively work to sabotage and undermine the working government...since we have evidence that they have been planning this for over a year...I think they are flirting with disaster even for themselves....and why I say they have walked right up to the line.
and you are welcome to love me....I accept all the love I can get!

(13,305 posts)Seeing some polls that show only 62% blame the republicans which seems low, has me worried. Especially seeing all the stupid news reports and even reports on NPR portraying this as a "negotiation" rather than an extortion/hostage situation I'm afraid those numbers are only going to get worse.

(31,402 posts)Think of Benjamin Franklin's admonition, "a republic, if you can keep it"
when asked what type of government was being structured by
the Constitutional Convention of 1787.
Does the irony escape everyone that it is the Republicans which
are determined to damage the Republic?
I've never been so worried about the future of our country as I am right now.
