2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumYes, let's shutdown the government, but a real shutdown
And editorial in the WSJ questioned how much daily lives of Americans will be affected.
So let's have a real shut down, except, maybe, for the FBI.
Let's start with withholding salaries of members of Congress and their staff.
And let's stop Social Security payments and food tamps. Let's shut down the FAA and the FDA.
Rachel ran a clip of a GA Congressman who, before even the 2010 elections was promising a government shutdown. This is what they did after they took control in 1994 and this is what they have been planning since the 2010 elections. The reason does not matter. All they want is a shutdown.
So have a complete shutdown and then will see when Curz's constituents will start asking for their disability checks and their food stamps. And then the American people will see what the government really is doing.

(6,474 posts)Remember that movie-forgot the name- something like "A Day Without Mexicans"- which took a comedic look at what would happen in California if all the Hispanics disappeared overnite
Why not a Day Without Gubermint
No Travel-plane, train automobiles
no Police to stop looting
no firemen to stop fires burning down entire blocks
No Traffic Lites-that would be fun
No Electricity or utilities (TV, lights etc) that would shut down well everything
No work without electricity-Stock Market closes without electricity
No schools
so on and so forth
Tea Party would love that!!!
Gubermint isn't the problem-the lack of Good Government is the problem
Would make a great Movie
question everything
