2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI think it is time for us to start recall proceedings against the treasonous right wing republicans
If the Republican House of Representative members want to destroy America and its ability to finance existing debts, then it is up to us, We the People, to initiate recall proceeding against all of them. I know that the Republicans have gerrymandered congressional districts to ensure re-election. However, a majority of women are against them, and, I hope, independents. It will depend on the independents and women to recall their (non)representatives in Congress.
Nothing will wake these treasonous assholes in Congress more than having to defend their position to their electorate in a recall election. We are galvanized and they will be defeated.

(43,890 posts)Q: Can members of congress be recalled?
A: No.
The U.S. Constitution does not provide for a recall of United States Senators or Congressmen.
Expulsion is the responsibility of the members of Congress.
The recall of United States Senators or Representatives had been considered during the time of the drafting of the federal Constitution, but recall provisions were rejected and were not included in the final version of the Constitution sent to the States for ratification.
In New York, an amendment to the U.S. Constitution was defeated in the 1788 ratifying convention which would have allowed the state legislatures to "recall their Senators ... and elect others in their stead."

(13,933 posts)Maybe sooner, for incumbents with a primary challenge, although in those cases the alternative will probably be worse.
