Do you think the republicans are really going to shut down the government and try to blame Obama?

"President Barack Obama wants the GOP to shut down the federal government in its quest of de-fund Obamacare." Rep. Marsha Blackburn.

"He's the one who wants a government shutdown," the Tennessee Republican said. "He's probably looking at it and saying: 'Shut it down. Give me the checkbook — and I get to control all discretionary spending, the Obamacare spending, the mandatory spending.'

"He's just sitting there saying: 'Have at it. Give it a shutdown,'" Blackburn added.

(this from Newmax and I will not link to that crap on DU.)

BTW when I was a little boy our next door neighbor's brother in a very middle class neighborhood
was Governor of Pennsylvania, Ray Shafer, and he was a nice guy, pro civil rights, pro union, big
on education both K-12 and secondary schools, infrastructure and he was a republican too and he
would have no home in the current republican party today. I fear these f***ers are so crazy that
they might really shut down the government just out of spite because they lost the election.

I know people personally who will believe it is Obama's fault.
To not believe the GOP is always right is unnatural for them. Can't overcome that with any sort of logic.

what people like that think - they're simply beyond hope. Keep an eye on any poll that breaks out independents. That will tell the story and I'm betting it wont be pretty for the right.

Republican leadership remembers how well it worked when Newt tried it and although he still says it was a great idea, look where he is now. And he tried to shut it down "sensibly" to get a balanced budget deal, not just defund a law he didn't understand.

But, the asshole wing of the party has brought them to the edge of the cliff and they have no clue what will happen if they really do shut things down.

No one is in control now and anything could happen.

as a scapegoat. They'll blame him and the Teabaggers. They'll grandstand and argue that they did all they could do (except their votes in the House tell a different story) but couldn't avoid it. They'll accuse the Teabaggers of exerting pressure on them.

That's an interesting theory about Romney. They could blame him, too, in a roundabout way.

“Yes, enough House Republicans are really that crazy.” And the latest NYT/CBS News poll will embolden the House republicans, further.

BTW, why doesn’t the NYT provide a link to their own survey; rather than just providing their summary of the findings? I even clicked on the link at the bottom of the article entitled: “How the Poll Was Conducted” that indicated “Complete questions and results are available at nytimes.com/polls” and got a generic page, sans the poll.

That really inspires a great deal of confidence in the polling results … especially since it is so contrary from the polling of the week before. NOT!

But they have a problem: They don't understand that more and more people are getting sick and tired of their juvenile antics these days.

The TeaParty will blame the main stream repubs for the shutdown. Not logical, but they will sell it to their followers easily.
