Republican Congressman Tells Hungry Kids, ‘If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.’

North Dakota congressman, Rep. Kevin Cramer took to Facebook to defend his vote to kick veterans, the elderly and children off of food assistance. His response was shocking. He replied by quoting the Bible,’If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.’

4. Not really the issue here.

Most people are willing to work. But part of the House nasty-budget-cut to SNAP is revoking post-2009 waivers granted that allowed able-bodied adults to receive food stamps without any need for volunteering or training. This would return things to the status quo ante, put in place by a largely (D) government. The waivers were put in place by a (D) government in response to a crisis. It behooves them to say that the crisis is permanent.

It's expected that if the waivers are rescinded--not that they will be, the budget-cut number's mostly there for stoking political outrage--a lot of able-bodied adults wouldn't volunteer or go for training. Many would start, but most would quit. That's what usually happens, so there's a track record, a sort of baseline figure.

That's the background that is usually lacking.

I don't know if they've taken any of it down, but when I went by Cramer was getting rebuked within an inch of his life.

Besides, the passage from Thessalonians is presented without context. It's one of those verses conservatives pop out while ignoring the spirit of the Gospels.

Cramer was born in Rolette, North Dakota, the first of five children for Richard and Clarice Cramer. He was raised in Kindred, North Dakota in Cass County. He graduated from Kindred High School. He received a B.A. degrees from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1983. He later earned a Master's degree in management from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota in 2003.[1]

After college, he campaigned for an unsuccessful Republican tax commissioner candidate in 1984. In 1986, he campaigned for U.S. Senator Mark Andrews’ bid for re-election. After Andrews lost to Democrat Kent Conrad, Cramer went to work for the state Republican Party.

14. They Got All The Answers

Children..lazy Seniors...leeches Disabled...work for your benefits
Change your job...add another job(or two)..get more education(never mind that you can't afford a bus pass never the less money for school). Don't retire so damned early(forget the fact that many companies start pushing you out the door at age 40 or so). Women get out there and work(while in the same breath) women stay home and watch your own kids...don't have kids you can't afford(but no birth control pills for you). Not having kids? Some think that's a sin too. No matter what you do it will be wrong.
In the fifties kids were able to mow lawns and deliver papers without a problem but it did not take long before they made it so complicated for the person getting their grass sheared they gave up on having the kid next door do it. I never did understand what was the point but it ruined a lot of kids chances to getting spending money or even help a bit for the family income.
They made similar rules when an elderly woman tried to sell a few vegetables from her garden or watch one of the neighborhood kids or if a younger woman wanted to clean a house for a few bucks.
They created all this red tape and it did little good for anyone, forcing people to work under the table just to get a few dollars to get them through the month.
