On the May 21st, 2013 Primary Election Day Ed Pawlowski, running for Mayor for a third consecutive term on the Democratic ticket, not only won his own parties nomination but was chosen by the Republicans as their nominee through a grass roots write-in campaign. Mayor Pawlowski is the first Mayor in the history of the City of Allentown to be on both the Repulican and Democratic tickets.

Is Allentown a liberal area?

Allentown is primarily working to middle class that traditionally votes Democratic--or SHOULD vote Democratic--but many whites were duped into supporting Reagan, so there are Reagan Democrats, so to speak (sigh). Anyway, it seems like the Democrats could do well there if they can reclaim pro-working/middle class-populist agenda.
I'm sure ill be corrected if wrong.

(2,185 posts)4. Palowski IS a dem
and he's worked to bring jobs and construction projects to Allentown.
The man lives in the community, and shows up for everything.
The Lehigh Valley has a growing economy, based on service/health based jobs.
Lots of housing going up in the area too.
Watch and see..
