You want to discourage people from voting for Democrats. I believe that makes you a troll.

(11,064 posts)proposed chained-CPI Social Security cuts.
No vote has been taken. The issue has not been before Congress in a way that would enable Congressional Democrats to vote against Obama's proposed chained-CPI cuts. That's been put off for the future.
You are wrong in falsely saying "You want to discourage people from voting for Democrats." That's not true. Obama, in fact, said that he wanted us to hold him accountable. The phrase that I believe that he used was that he wanted us to hold his feet to the fire. Obama's effort to cut Social Security with a chained-CPI, which has not been rejected by any Congressional vote, is the exact opposite of opposing cuts to Social Security.

(68,868 posts)This thread was not about Obama. It was about why people should vote for Democrats over Republicans.
And you came in to piss all over that idea.
Seems like sabotage.

(11,064 posts)one that will focus upon strengths? Or one that can uncover vulnerabilities?
You don't understand the distinction? Too bad.

(31,849 posts)To that faux vulnerability is to point out, as has been done time and time again, that President Obamas offering the CCPI (that he knew was going nowhere) was to put on display, yet another instance of the republicans refusing to bargain on anything, even when they say give us this and well talk. It will work on thinking folks (and the beauty of it is its true); but itll lose the folks that are looking for a reason
any reason to not vote for Democrats.
Yes, Mc
this is, yet, another instance of you doing your thing.

(11,064 posts)Sorry, I live in a fact-based world.
Come back when you have some facts, any facts, that he was offering the CCPI "that he knew was going nowhere".
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)Name ONE Democrat that you suspect would vote for CCPI? What have Democrats actually said about their thoughts on a CCPI? Do you think President Obama has done a similiar count?
What was the republican response to President Obama's offer of the CCPI? Why do you think that was their response?
To give you a prompt ... No Democrat has come out in support of the CCPI. The closest anyone has come is (Democrats in Red districts), "We will CONSIDER the CCPI after Republicans come to the table with increased revenue." Democrats in Blue and purple districts have said "Hell, no. No CCPI." That suggests that CCPI was going nowhere. Again ... don't you think President Obama has done a similiar accounting?
Now, let's consider where President Obama's offer has placed republicans. If they support the CCPI, they face their elderly base.
If they oppose the CCPI, they face a republican primary because they opposed cuts to entitlements.
If vote for the CCPI and it comes with increased taxation (as Democrats have conditioned any consideration), they face their elderly base AND a primaryI.
Now I ask a third time ... don't you think President Obama has done a similiar accounting?
Does that info you Fact-based world?

(11,064 posts)Name calling is ugly (and childish). Making false accusatory statements is ugly. Threads are not ugly.
If you feel excessively emotional about an April 2013 thread, in which posters exchanged their views (and you - Paladin - let it be known that you are a firearm owner), take up Yoga, give up caffeine, and/or consider getting some help.
Threads are not ugly, and a specific thread in which a question was asked - "While there is a push to ban assault rifles, why not ban sniper rifles?" - is not ugly.

(11,920 posts)you'd better find a way to support single-payer; the ACA doesn't cover every single American, nor does it acknowledge health care is a basic human right.
