(2,730 posts)out voted Republicans in North Carolina. The Districts were gerrymandered. The big mistake was giving the GOP, the governorship too. They thought McCrory was a moderate. Now they are trying to fix the overall election in the state by trying to make it harder to vote. It should back fire on them, because it will hurt whites just as much as minorities.

(24,764 posts)It's a pattern with the teabagger gang; campaign on a center-right platform and then govern like right-wing dictators.
Corbett pulled the same bait-and-switch con on Pennsylvania voters in 2010, as did Scott Walker in WI, Snyder in MI, and Catshit in OH.

(9,983 posts)There are always a small, vocal minority who are convinced that hacking big chunks out of a budget is the only possible answer to any question. Trouble is, this kinda sorta works for about 1.5 budget cycles, then it tanks- always
The "genius" of the tea party is the linking of these mad slashers with the economic Flat Earth / free market crowd and enough old pros behind the scenes to get serious media penetration.

(260 posts)McCrory won because a lot of Democrats thought he is a moderate (since he was the mayor of Charlotte) and voted for him.
As for the general assembly, Republicans has supermajority because of redistricting/gerrymandering.
