In case anyone needs more proof that our national dialogue is being steered by Roger Ailes

Just a month ago, I was reading in the American press and blogs from the States (NOT elsewhere) about the "Obama Scandals."

HUH???? WHAT scandals? That IRS thing that Issa used selective parts of? Or ANY of that other crap that was lumped together under the collective headline of "the Obama scandals?"

So now look at the headlines. Disclaimer--I now live mostly overseas, so I don't see the daily headlines of newspapers in Waco or Tulsa. But even so. What is the status on the so-called "Obama scandals?"

From the cold and rainy Rheinland here, it looks like someone forgot to pay the electricity bill for the Fox hologram machine, and they vanished when someone turned off the light switch.

Flavor of the month, only it was last month's flavor. The "Obama Scandals" have been relegated to the same graveyard as Ben & Jerry's "White Russian." If Fox Noise said there were some "Obama scandals," then the American media was talking about how the President was going to survive the pressure of them. Ooops. There weren't real. The only pressure he had was worrying about what Fox wants us to pay attention to next. The American media owes us all an apology. But there is no Will McAvoy, and we aren't going to get one.

I wish Obama would just come out and say "Fox and the Republicans made that shit up, and if they can prove otherwise, let them do so. Otherwise, I'm done listening to their bullshit lies, and Congress would do well to follow my example and stop wasting the country's time and, if they are such fiscal conservatives, the country's MONEY!"

because if they weren't so easily distracted all the time, they might have to take stock of their lives and situations and wonder why everything is so crappy and we can't have "nice things" like in every other civilized country. As long as Fox News can pin all of their problems on the tail (of the Donkey), then they won't notice the Elephant's trunk reaching into their back pockets to grab their wallets, trashing everything, and then leaving a huge steaming pile behind when they're through.

Nobody I know has spent much time talking about any of these "scandals" (to the extent they even know they exist) let alone calling for his impeachment. The only people whom eat this sort of thing up is the GOP's right-wing base. It's like freakin' catnip to them or something.....

They'd then cite some verse from the Book of Aardvark to back up their claim, and smile smugly, as if they had just mapped the human genome on their doodling pad from memory.

What I was talking about was reading New York Times articles mentioning the "Obama scandals" as if there had ever been such a thing. There wasn't, and yet so much of our media was talking about "them" as if "they" had really existed. Puff the Magic Dragon didn't exist just because Peter Yarrow wrote a song about him, and there were no "Obama scandals" just because Fox Noise said there were. So why did the term even leech into the media? Because Roger Ailes wanted it to.

Not good enough a reason, if you ask me.

are the consumers of news. And quite frankly, we need to undo the changes Reagan and co. did that led to all this.
