Chick-fil-a is at it again

ATLANTA (AP) — The president of the fast-food restaurant chain Chick-fil-A has once again injected himself into the gay marriage debate, this time criticizing U.S. Supreme Court rulings.

Dan Cathy posted a comment Wednesday on Twitter criticizing a pair of U.S. Supreme Court rulings. Those decisions will extend federal recognition to same-sex marriages in the states where they are legal, and will add California — the most populous state — to the 12 others in that category.

“Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies,” Cathy wrote, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The post was later deleted.

Chick-fil-A issued a statement acknowledging the post, saying Cathy was offering a personal comment.

“Dan recognizes his views do not necessarily represent the views of all Chick-fil-A customers, restaurant owners and employees, so he removed the tweet to eliminate any confusion,” the company said.

That all these fuckers are quite literally killing each other with their shitty food makes the whole spectacle of huffy resentment almost funny.

This guy is just one person, like the rest of us. Who cares what he says, its not like Chick Fil A put it on a cup or an advertisement. I'm sure plenty of big corporation leaders feel this way but I doubt all the Chick Fil A employees do.

They don't franchise like most do. With their model you get to buy into the business but you don't own the actual restaurant. I have yet to see one Chick Fil A not do well, anywhere.

Their food tastes good. Really good. Yeah, it's not good enough for the DUers who seem to only dine in five-star restaurants, but those are damn good chicken sandwiches.

When we have these conversations about that particular chain, or any popular restaurant chain for that matter, we're always guaranteed to hear how bad the food is - it tastes bad, it's gonna kill you right now, etc. Problem is, Chick-fil-A serves very tasty food. (It's boiled in oil so it ain't the healthiest food in the world...)

Groups advocating the death penalty for homosexuality bothered the decent folk among us.

Now, granted the janitors at the Nazi death camps weren't pushing people into the gas chambers, but some folk believe they are tainted by association with their employers.

Welcome to DU.

Where Cathy said anything about death penalty for homosexuality. If you can, I will agree with you about him, otherwise you are a fool to add the Nazi example to this argument.

the Nazi analogy is appropriate. Go google some of this stuff; it was widely reported. (Or did you think people were getting upset for the joy of a good tizzy? What part of "hate group" was unclear?)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/02/chick-fil-a-anti-gay-group-donations-_n_1644609.html

Chick-fil-A is quickly becoming more well-known for its alleged anti-gay donations than for its fried chicken.

As reported by Equality Matters and The Advocate -- among other publications -- a newly-released analysis of Chick-fil-A's charitable work has found that the fast found chain donated nearly $2 million to anti-gay groups over the course of 2010.

Among the many groups to receive donations through Chick-fil-A's WinShape Foundation, which was created by Chick-fil-A founder and chairman S. Truett Cathy in 1984, were the Marriage & Family Foundation ($1,188,380), Exodus International ($1,000) and the Family Research Council (also $1,000), Equality Matters reported.

Meanwhile, The New Civil Rights Movement's David Badash presents an even more disturbing figure: that Chick-fil-A has donated an estimated $5 million to anti-gay organizations and hate groups between 2003 and 2010.

Still did not see where Cathy said anything about wanting Gays killed. I grow so tired of people using the Nazi term to defend their causes. Show me 6,000,000 dead LBGT people and you can start the comparison, until then, grow up.

Hitler didn't start out intending to kill 6 million jews. So if the hate groups end up killing only, say, a thousand, we're going to come them to other genocidals.

And Ida provided you with 3 hate groups to which the Cathys have contributed large sums of money. These groups and others have advocated all manner of "retribution" against gays, up to and including murder.

I'm already grown up

As is his right. But in making himself a public figure not on his status as "one person," nor as anyone with any special knowledge of the topic, but as the owner of restaurants, he's making the restaurants a symbol of ignorance and hatred.

Bit hypocritical for people to suggest everyone should leave his business out of the equation when it's the only reason anyone's listening to him in the first place.

He's made it clear he thinks he should be heard because a lot of people buy his sandwiches.

Why wouldn't people who find his dehumanizing superstitious claptrap vile therefore stop contributing to the sale of said sandwiches?

The average Chick Fil A restaurant made $2,694,400 per store, that is nearly $200,000 per store above McDonald's. Chick Fil A is ranked #1 amongst all fast food restaurants in per store revenue, they are ranked #1 because they are the best at what they do. Customer Service, quality, product and training. There are fortune 100 companies that pay Chick Fil A corporate trainers to come to their companies to train their employees. Only Disney is better.

Progressive push back is why this country isn't a total shit hole, everything from public education to women having the right to vote to work safety and the 40 hour workweek pretty much everything good and i mean everything! is because progressives push back on irrational bigots and money hoarders.

We will continue to pull you knuckle dragging cake faces forward to a better smarter civilization. I am sorry but the old west and the gilded age was shit and none of us are going to let you take us back to those era's.

Now as far as Chick fila goes their menu is very limited, knuckle dragger's are only going to be able to stand that garbage for so long until their visits are few and far between, when that happens Chick fila is going to wish they had back half the potential market share they continue to alienate. Progressives don't forget it makes us feel good to avoid doing business with hateful people.
