“The Supreme Court has effectively gutted one of the nation's most important and effective civil rights laws,” Jon Greenbaum, chief counsel for the Lawyers Committee on Civil Rights Under Law, said in a statement. “Minority voters in places with a record of discrimination are now at greater risk of being disenfranchised than they have been in decades. Today's decision is a blow to democracy. Jurisdictions will be able to enact policies which prevent minorities from voting, and the only

I'm sorry - right now I'm not seeing a silver lining in any cloud. And right now I'm thinking if the Forward Looking 2016'ers want their Candidate to win the WH - you better first figure out how to protect the voting rights of black, latino, brown people in general in Philadelphia. Because they were the targets that could have cost of PA in 2012.

And what of all these other Republican Governors?

This is such a slap in the face to every minority - male or female - or serves this country's military. And to their brothers, sister, mothers, fathers, children, aunts, uncles, etc. etc. Well fuck us running folks.

OK ---so the old GOP/TeaParty thinks they won something------you would have to admit that when the VRA was created the country was a lot less diverse and a candidate like Obama could never have even gotten the nomination------so none of the arguments can take hold----nobody had their guns taken away----the country has "survived" our first black president---the GOP in their zeal to discredit him have stonewalled him every step of the way and have angered a lot of people ---in 2016 when Hilary runs she will win a lot more women votes then even Obama -----and on both sides of the fence----you can be sure that the events about women's health that are promulgated by these right wingers are being recorded and will be used against every Republican-----and the surrogate team that they will have working for Hilary---Michele and Barack will get out the black/minority vote-----currently the GOP is throwing Rubio under the bus on immigration-------and even the youth of the GOP has lost faith in them---------no they will lose by even bigger margins---the GOP mess is in their message----they appeal to a very narrow segment that is only growing narrower----so our job is to GOTV and use the GOP's words against them------like Biden said "they just don't get it"-----BTW I am a 67 yo white dude---have faith

We are screwn. Pretty soon it will only be white men who own property (read: land - for now) that can vote.
Women, dependent children and slaves/indentured servants will be bundled back in to the definition of 'property' soon enough.

...and take over power, I guess they have a green-light to disenfranchise conservative white voters. Payback is a bitch. The Supreme KKKourt just put seal of doom on the GOP.

there are no trending numbers to support your belief her------2014 and again in 2016-----all of those who have been disenfranchised for decades will rise to a new power----if we go to vote------and that is if we don't register any new voters ------it's battle stations for sure----but it's gonna be a long time before we see another Republican president----this is because their party has been hijacked by conservative, right wing, low information people ------stay with the people on this blog ---AND spread the word to all who could suffer if we another republican regime-----Grace Happens
