This sentence is a work of art:

From where I sit, the team bench is devoid of women, leaving only men to play in the ball game. A particularly apt metaphor when the objects that are thrown, hit and caught in that game remain elusive to the male players who either do not have the courage to take on the mighty Christie or the loyalty to back up the sole woman who did.

And sexist or not - they didn't have the brass ovaries to run against him - at least get behind the woman with solid progressive credentials who did.

I know we've discussed offline - and you are even MORE active in the State's business than I am however . . . I can't in good conscience give to a 'party' again. Not for a long time. It's only direct to candidate contributions.

All because of Essex County . . .

ETA - also from the article:

Currie had some harsh things to say to Passaic County Democrat and Paterson City Council President Anthony Davis when he decided to publicly endorse Christie for governor. Currie said you cannot be a party leader and endorse the other party’s candidate. Except in Essex County.Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo, a Democrat, endorsed Christie, clearly answers to a higher power — a Supreme Being or just someone in South Jersey. I do not know. I do know Buono is being thrown under the bus solely because she is doing what no Democrat in New Jersey was willing to do: Run against Christie.

Is for various events (ie the state convention).

I've had my own conspiracy theory about Barbara Buono's campaign's failure to launch and it was that Bob Buono would receive a lot more help from the state party. This article proves my theory. And as a female political staffer I've seen blatant sexism by some of the good old boys in the party.

It's sad that in my district last year (a very red part of VA, the size of NJ), where one would expect much more of a good old boys culture, that 1/3 of the Democratic county/city chairs were women. In a much bluer area (and state), only 2/21 are women (and one has been on fire lately leading the charge to take the special election to court).
