Michele Bachmann Will Not Seek Re-Election in 2014 (VIDEO)

05/29/2013 3:54 am EDT

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) announced early Wednesday that she will not seek a fifth term in office.

The decision to bow out of the 2014 race was announced in a YouTube video on the congresswoman's Website and on her Facebook page.

Although Bachmann didn't give an exact reason for her departure, she explained that an 8-year term in the House was enough.

"The law limits anyone from serving as president of the United States for more than eight years, and in my opinion, well, eight years is also long enough for an individual to serve as a representative for a specific Congressional district," Bachmann said.

The conservative lawmaker also made it clear that her decision not to run had nothing to do with the ongoing ethics investigation about alleged misconduct during her failed presidential campaign in 2012.

May the people of Minnesota, a state that is SUPPOSE to be liberal, make her seat one of the 18 needed to flip the congress to
the democratic party and get the gavel out of Darrell Isaa's hands.

but that pension won't be that much. Average pension of those that have retired under the new plan is about $40,000. It isn't all paid for by us either. They are required to make contributions to their plan. They don't start receiving the pension until they turn 62.

She will probably receive about $16,000 a year when she turns 62.

I detest Bachman and will be elated to see her go... Now I hope that we can also get rid of the man who Cenk calls "The Dumbest Man In Congress" as well......

The question people are asking is, does it help Jim Graves that he won't be up against a high-profile incumbent with a lot of $$, or does the GOP getting rid of Bachmann actually help them because their next candidate won't have as much baggage?
