Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) on Wednesday excoriated House Republicans for a scheduled vote Thursday to repeal Obamacare -- their 37th vote to wipe out or dismantle the health care law.
"Albert Einstein defined insanity as, 'doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.' If thats true, the House Republicans have truly lost their minds," Reid said.
-snip-
After last years election, Speaker Boehner conceded that Obamacare is here to stay. This is what he said: It's pretty clear that the President was reelected, [and] Obamacare is the law of the land. But just in case, the House will waste this week on yet another dead-end repeal vote. Perhaps Republicans think the 37th time is the charm.
Tea Party extremists bullied the Speaker into holding yet another vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and roll back benefits for tens of millions of Americans. This is what the Speaker said last week: We've got 70 new members who have not had an opportunity to vote on the president's health care law
Frankly, they've been asking for an opportunity to vote on it.
This political kabuki has tied up the floor of the House of Representatives for weeks, and cost the American taxpayers $52.4 million and counting, according to figures compiled by CBS News. That $52.4 million is enough to restore funding for 19 million meals for homebound seniors or 6,900 children dropped from the Head Start program.

(16,993 posts)Yes, absolutely she's lost her mind, if she ever had one to lose.
What's truly terrifying is that crazy people (most of them on the right side) are running the country! Is it any wonder things are so screwed up? Congress really needs to pass a bill that crazy people can't run for office!

(16,987 posts)What truly appalls me is that someone looked at Michele Bachmann's and Rick Perry's name on a ballot and said, "Yes, that's a good idea. I'll vote for him/her."
But there are some sane people running the country. Don't tar every district or state with the same brush!

(16,993 posts)We still have to endure the insanity from the crazies, who prevent bills from moving, tie up the media with their latest diatribes, and seem to have more power than the sane ones.
We've allowed this to go on for too long. Where are the sane people condemning Bachmann's repeated attempt to kill Obamacare? Why aren't we hearing how wasteful this process is, how much time and money is being wasted?
No, not every district or state is in the same situation, but you certainly hear more from the crazies than you do from the sane ones, and the crazies sure seem to be controlling Congress at this point (for the most part).

(45,251 posts)You do get many hits if you google
Einstein said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
However, you will also get many hits if you google the opposite statement, namely,
Einstein never said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

On the larger issue, Republicans may be nuts, but they get their way much too often for my tastes.
