Chris Nogy, Arkansas Republican, Calls Essay Advocating Shooting GOP Lawmakers 'Misunderstood'

Chris Nogy, Arkansas Republican, Calls Essay Advocating Shooting GOP Lawmakers 'Misunderstood'
The Huffington Post | By John Celock Posted: 04/22/2013 7:22 pm EDT | Updated: 04/22/2013 7:39 pm EDT

Arkansas state police have cleared the husband of a Republican official who used a county GOP newsletter to suggest that Republican state legislators who voted for the Obamacare Medicaid expansion in the state should be shot.

Investigators have decided not to pursue criminal charges against Chris Nogy, the husband of Benton County Republican Party Secretary Leigh Nogy, The Arkansas Times reports.

In a Saturday essay titled "Scathing," Nogy wrote that GOP lawmakers who voted for the Medicaid expansion betrayed the party, and he suggested that the Second Amendment could offer a solution to dealing with those legislators:

We need to make a public statement from our groups that we no longer support those who turned on us, that we will NOT be working to their re-election, that we will be actively seeking replacements, and perhaps even working towards recall. We as the Party have to stand up and say ‘no more – you were given a job, you campaigned on the promise to do this job, you had the ability to do this job, you had the votes each time to do this job, and yet for no legitimate reason you betrayed the trust put in you by the electorate and you are now completely and permanently politically finished.’ We need to let those who will come in the future to represent us that we are serious. The 2nd amendment means nothing unless those in power believe you would have no problem simply walking up and shooting them if they got too far out of line and stopped responding as representatives. It seems that we are unable to muster that belief in any of our representatives on a state or federal level, but we have to have something, something costly, something that they will fear that we will use if they step out of line. If we can’t shoot them, we have to at least be firm in our threat to take immediate action against them politically, socially, and civically if they screw up on something this big. Personally, I think a gun is quicker and more merciful, but hey, we can’t.

The direct threat of gun violence should be enough.

He wasn't 'misunderstood', this is what he actually believes should happen in his heart of hearts, otherwise, why on Earth would he write it?

Another 'law-abiding gun owner' advocating for political assassination to eliminate those who disagree with him.

If they actually took the guns away from that guy whose kid talked about going to another kid's house to shoot him with a BB gun and a water pistol, then they should certainly take them from an adult who adovcated assassination in this manner.

the state. All the good, sensible people have been forced to leave and now we are stuck with 3rd string yahoo's who "think" they know all about state government. She's got stories to tell about these guys and she's having to do a lot of meditating in order to keep her mouth closed. It's amazing the amount of legislatures who d/l virus' along with their porn. Who'd a thunk it?

Abortion Laws and ALEC - who really got elected here this past election: they are purposefully passing the draconian abortion laws so they will go to court, so it will drain the state coffers, and they can turn around and say "we have no money for that" because they spent it all defending these lawsuits, along with the voting rights lawsuits. The one that recently passed goes against Ark. State Constitution.

Needless to say, these ALEC laws have really woken people up around here about the damage they can do and I see a very strong Democratic turn out for 2014. Arkansas used to be True and Strong Blue, which is why you never heard from us, we were peacefully getting along (other than economic theory, Thanks Walmart - NOT), now that these assholes have descended, they are making us look like hicks, hillbillies and rednecks, which we are not! Well, at least most of us.

It hasn't been a fun 5 months since the election. Astounding that is all it is - 5 months. <sigh>
