Openly Gay Man Confirmed as Air Force Under Secretary
April 19, 2013 by Maureen McCarty, Online Content and Marketing Manager

Yesterday the U.S. Senate confirmed President Obama nomination of Eric Fanning as Air Force under secretary.

As Under Secretary, the openly gay official will assume the second-highest civilian position in the Air Force.

Last year, Tammy S. Smith’s promotion to Army Brigadier General made her the highest-ranking openly gay service member in the U.S. Military, and the first openly gay officer of flag rank.

The two confirmations come just two years after the implementation of the repeal of DADT, the discriminatory policy banning lesbian and gay service members from serving openly.

this is not news worth reporting. It's kind of sicko to me that we have to
think about what people do with their private parts, yuck. i dont' want to
think about that about anyone! I have asked homophobes before gee do
you look at me and think about what I do with my husband, too? Freaks
them out.

I want to see congratulations because a good person did a good job, period.
