April Fools!
Except, no, it's actually true.
The 8 Democratic Senators still holding out on marriage equality:
1. Joe Manchin--(state voted overwhelmingly for Romney and McCain)
2. Joe Donnely (state voted narrowly for Obama in 2008 and overwhelmingly for Romney in 2012)
3. Bill Nelson--(state voter narrowly for Obama in 2012 and comfortably in 2008)
4. Heidi Heitkamp (state voted overwhelmingly for Romney and McCain)
5. Mary Landrieu (state voted overwhelmingly for Romney and McCain)
6. Tim Johnson (state voted overwhelmingly for Romney and McCain)
7. Mark Pryor (state voted overwhelmingly for Romney and McCain)
8. Tom Carper (state voted Obama +26% in 2008 and 2012)

(note: Casey and Hagen flipped since this story was written):
Tom Carper, career piss boy for the DLC:

The DLC's last chairman was former Representative Harold Ford of Tennessee, and its vice chair was Senator Thomas R. Carper of Delaware. Its CEO was Bruce Reed.
Why hasn't this regressive, soulless p.o.s. been primaried by someone in tune with the state yet?

(3,109 posts)He came out today in favor of Marriage Equality.
In a Facebook post, he wrote:
As our society has changed and evolved, so too has the public's opinion on gay marriage and so has mine. I pray every day for God to grant me the wisdom to do what is right. Through my prayers and conversations with my family and countless friends and Delawareans, I've been reminded of the power of one of my core values: the Golden Rule. It calls on us to treat others as we want to be treated. That means, to me, that all Americans ultimately should be free to marry the people they love and intend to share their lives with, regardless of their sexual orientation, and that's why today, after a great deal of soul searching, I'm endorsing marriage equality.

(18,402 posts)People are so obsessed with labeling people DLC, but the organization was dying for years, and closed its doors more than two years ago. It's dead. We have to think up new names.
That doesn't change the meaning of the post, regarding the remaining Democratic senators and their opposition to same-sex marriage. Let's just not call them "DLC." It's pointless now, like calling people Whigs or Know-Nothings (though the latter might apply).

(68,868 posts)And he was on the bridge when it went under.
Him and Bruce Reed and Harold Ford.
I understand people from places like West Virginia and North Dakota.
Can you imagine the Republicans allowing a squishy-centrist to represent Idaho, Wyoming, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc?

(89,248 posts)it seems to come down to him maybe really opposing this right for gays..
i mean, you have people from FAR more social conservative states coming out in support of it. there is no excuse for his opposition.
Proud Liberal Dem
(24,412 posts)The rest will, however, be along shortly. I'm a bit disappointed in Donnelly (my Senator from Red State Indiana) but just think how many people, including our President, "evolved" on the issue in just four short years? Back in 2007-2008, Democratic candidates were talking about Civil Unions. Now, nearly everybody is talking about marriage equality, something that I thought would take a considerably longer time.

(94,520 posts)voted to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", and supports the repeal of DOMA. But I suppose statements are much more important than actual votes...
