I'll volunteer for a real Democratic candidate. I won't work for Crist to be re-elected. He was Jeb II and only looks good in comparison to Rick Scott. That's like saying dog shit is better than cat shit because it stinks less. They both stink.

(8,224 posts)There is not a candidate I am aware of with the remote chance of winning the Dem nomination, that I would not prefer to Scott. By all means support and work for whoever you like in the primary, but please vote against Scott in the general.

(13,190 posts)By putting weak candidates up like they have in PA. and NJ where I live the party is so fucked up here there are actually some Democratic Party leaders supporting Christy for reelection.Thinking they have no chance because of stupid polling saying Christy has a 70 percent approval rating
in the SE part of the state always seem to nominate multiple candidates from their portion of the state while only one emerges from the Pittsburgh region. Inevitably the dem is from Pittsburgh and has trouble getting full support from SE PA and looses the election. Not saying that Dems from Pittsburgh are bad they just seem to not be able to pull in the moderate to liberal Repubs in the SE part of PA that will ultimately carry the state.
you mean like Rendell?
The conventional wisdom before Rendell, going back to Dilworth v. Scranton in the 60's, was that western Pa would never support a Philadelphian.
Corbett has made a lot of enemies in the state- if the Democrats put up a decent candidate, he can be beaten.

2010 pennsylvania gov election where dem dan onorato from west pennsy lost to corbett.
Yet onorato won only 4 counties in pennsy (of about 40 counties(?)), and 3 of them were in southeast pennsy including philly. (The other was scranton lackawanna county in northeast pa, nearby my place. - edited from luzerne co to lackawanna, oops!)
So onorato refutes your contention, tho does not disprove it totally. Both corbett & onorato had ties to west pennsy so somebody had to win southeast/philly region, turned out to be onorato.
(repub, 2010 winner now gov) Corbett was born in Philadelphia.. began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in Pittsburgh's Allegheny County... hired in 1980 as an assistant United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
2010 dem candidate: Dan Onorato, Allegheny County Chief Executive (from Pittsburgh)

bill stein: you mean like Rendell?
I generally liked ed rendell, now relegated to guest appearing on the several msnbc talk shows, but no 'big ed' is ed, just a talking 'ed of the talking heads. He supported gun control efforts, one gun per month laws & more, a plus imo.

Yeah, & the OP surprised me since it isn't that great for us dems to hear that it's only a tossup; corbett's approval is down in the 30's I believe, & he's supporting the photo id law along with rest of the rightwing harrisburg legislature, so he's ready to be thrown out imo.
There's an ad around here claiming he bought suv's for his staff while wanting everyone else to hunker down.
If pennsy does enact a photo id law dunno what a new dem gov could do about it tho.
I just wish someway to get barletta out ('my' congressman, barf), but with the redistricting gonna be hard to do. Sick commercial he ran against well liked kanjorski up here last time, posing kanjo as a 'sofa slob' who people would get up & walk away after sitting next to him, raunchy tv ad, but that's barletta.
