Why is this always ignored?

Without Bush and Cheney's wars, our economy would be booming. In fact, everyone's tax rates could probably have gone down.

Why is America still spending so much on military spending while we talk about cutting entitlements? War in our country is more important than the well being of our citizens.

American priorities are out of whack.

I always justify it by saying "there is no glory to be had in taking care of your own people".

Yup. Sad, but true. America's priorities are hugely out of whack.

Too many States rely on it for their economy. What would they do with all those workers out of a job if they stopped making weapons or making ships or tanks?

We seem to be painted into a corner.

We have a military built for imperialism, not just defense. We have to stop these wars of choice, and start a war on propaganda against our own good government.

I LIKE OUR GOVERNMENT!!!!

And I don't want ANY country trying to drown it in the bathtub.

In addition to what you mentioned, there is something else that bothers me with regards to priorities. Why are we guaranteed the right to bear arms in the Constitution, yet guaranteeing everyone health care is somehow a bad thing? Compared to having access to health care, how often in life would the average person need a gun? For 22 3/4 years, I have seen the doctor many times, but I have never needed a gun to defend myself, and I happen to live in one of the most crime-ridden cities in the U.S.

though the wars were expensive. The military is massive. Military spending has doubled since 2001 and it was by far the most expensive military in the world in 2001!

And they don't spend all that money on the military strictly as a deterrent. Nope, they find ways to use it, which is why our country's founders feared having a standing army. Thanks for lending your voice to this issue, it's going to take a lot of us speaking up loud and often to snap this country out of its military madness.
