In his first post-election interview that will air Sunday morning on Fox News, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said President Barack Obama has flopped in his handling of the sequestration debate.
Romney criticized Obama for being caught off guard by the sequestration deadline and for "berating" Republicans during the budget debate.
"Well, no one can think that's been a success for the President. He didn't think the sequester would happen. It is happening," Romney said. "But to date, what we've seen is the President out campaigning to the American people, doing rallies around the country, flying around the country, and berating Republicans. And blaming and pointing. Now what does that do? That causes the Republicans to retrench and then put up a wall and fight back. It's a very natural human emotion."
The clip was teased by Fox News during a Friday morning segment with anchor Chris Wallace, who landed the exclusive interview.

(2,730 posts)I'm looking forward to 2014 and the Republicans campaigning on wanting to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid for their kids. My position is they have the same stance they held in 2010. The people that have the final say will be the people that put these people in office. It is very clear now on who wants to cut what. There is a clear choice to be made in 2014 if the American people want to end this stalemate. I've come to a conclusion. It was a big mistake to turn the House over to John Boehner and the Republican Party. If people in those Red States get hurt by these cuts, Boehner and the Republican House did it to you.

(24,414 posts)but the Republicans- at least most of them- seem content to allow it to happen and Boehner and his House are just sitting on their butts waiting for them to happen thinking that they will profit politically from them.
BTW the Republicans complain about President Obama "campaigning" by being out there talking to people and getting his message out. WTF does he think that Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Fox News, et. al do all day long every day in terms of getting the Republican Tea Party *message* out?
