Woodard Dilemma Solved ...

I think I have cracked to Woodard "Yes, the Whitehouse did put forth the Sequester; Yes, the Whitehouse did move the goalposts" dilemma ... and I can explain it in terms that everyone (that is honest with themselves) can understand.

Last night, I was moving some old law school books that I had, long before, stored away. I came across my Ethics in the Law textbook and it reminded me of a lesson presented the 1st day of class. The Professor showed a clip of a Northern Exposure episode, where the white guy was meeting with his attorney trying to void a land deal he had entered into with the dumb Alaskan Native. See, the sharp white guy purchased 10 acres of property "on the lake front." Excited about his having taken advantage of the dumb native, he quickly signed the deal. Unfortunately, after the deal was signed, the white guy realized that, yes ... the property had a lake front view; but the plot was triangular in shape and only 20 feet of the property that actually touched the lake! See the white guy, bolstered by his arrogence, THOUGHT he had pulled one over on the dumb native; when, in fact, the dumb native knew the configuration of the plot. So the white guy was faced with, how does he get out of a deal that he had been bragging about having got the better deal?

How many of us have walked away with what we thought was a great deal ... becuae we were so much smarter than the erson we were dealing with; only to discover later, that we didn't get the deal we thought we had.

I suspect that this is what happened with boehner, he thought he pulled one over on President Obama ... he walked away thinking that he got the cherry deal; but in the light of day, he didn't have the deal he thought he had. This has been the pattern of all the boehner/President Obama negotiations ... boehner walks out bragging that he "got 98% of what I wanted", only to be forced to re-read the deal.

So what's boehner to do to save face? Why enlist the services of a "rock solid journalist" ... one that other journalist have lionized ... "Hell, this dude broke Watergate", to say the deal wasn't the deal!
