Ashley Judd meets with DSCC
Actress Ashley Judd privately met with officials at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Washington earlier this week, as she continues to weigh whether to mount a Senate run against Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, according to two sources familiar with the session.
According to one person familiar with the matter, Tuesdays meeting was Judds first formal one with officials at the DSCC, which coordinates strategy, recruits and fundraises on behalf of Democratic Senate candidates. DSCC officials refused to comment, saying they would not discuss candidate recruitment.

(71,265 posts)I am all for who can beat McConnell, and i am just not sure she can do it. They have a few good politicians there that might run in the primary. If she wins i hope the primary battle readies her.

(5,044 posts)Ashley has the potential to command a very formidable campaign, if she really wants it. Seeing what is taking place in the state that she loves, I suspect that she will challenge McConnell. She cares about her state too much, not to do so.
Additionally, she will also garner a lot support among voices who have been dormant for too long.

(3,576 posts)His ads show her saying "I love Tenn" about a hundred times and ways, what's that about? If she is to run, any other Dem. aspirants must be stopped early or Democrats will shoot themselves in the foot.

(14,919 posts)Ashley does currently live in Williamson county, TN, to be near to her mom and sister. I grew up right across the river from Ashland, KY , where her family has lived for generations, and can assure you that people understand why the Judds had to move away to pursue their careers, and they are very proud of them. The Judds come back to visit frequently and are great "ambassadors". Ashley is often caught on camera at basketball games of her alma mater UK, fanatically cheering for the Wildcats. Everyone in Appalachia has family who have had to.move elsewhere for work, and I think the fact that Ashley wants to return and give something back will be seen as a.positive thing.

(15 posts)Mitch Galapagos Tortoise McConnell and his obstructionist pals have done more to slow the progress of America moving forward than most anyone else. His seat is ripe for the pickin'. Run Ashley. The Tortoise won't win this race, no matter how much scratch the Kook Bros. Dump into it.

(17,125 posts)I'm like anti-all caps, but this is an extraordinary circumstance.
I've visited her beautiful website, http://ashleyjudd.com/
"Follow Ashley on Twitter at @ashleyjudd."
I've put her email address into my address book: juddashley5@gmail.com
This is just a "fan mail" drop, and I don't know if anyone actually reads this stuff. I'll post any responses I get.
My email:
Dear Ms. Judd,
I will contribute to your Senate race as soon as you open a donation site.
I am not a resident of Kentucky, but I will be proud to send you contributions. Please let me know as soon as you open up a donation site, and I'll be there.
I can only make small contributions, but I belong to http://www.democraticunderground.com/ and the activist members of this online community are chomping at the bit to get involved in your campaign.
Thank you,

(21,977 posts)I live in KY. I seriously doubt she can beat McConnell. We have some solid Democrats who CAN beat the Turtleman, but all the oxygen goes to Ashley Judd. So she goes to UK games and did a sexy poster for the Cats a few years ago. That doesn't qualify her to run for the Senate.

And some of the mouth breathers who voted for Palin because she was attractive might also vote for AJ, even if they are R voters.

(21,977 posts)But she hasn't been a Kentuckian for years.
She would no doubt do well in Louisville/Jefferson County. And maybe Ashland. That alone won't get her elected. Meanwhile, Dems who could, in fact, beat the Turtle are ignored.
