Fox Business host: Preschool is just Obama ‘handing out goodies’ to the poor

By David Edwards
Friday, February 15, 2013 12:37 EST

Fox Business host Stuart Varney is blasting President Barack Obama’s proposal to provide high-quality early education for poor and middle-class children, saying that the plan is just Democrats handing out “goodies” and “free stuff” in an attempt to buy votes.

During a segment titled “Who’s Ruining the Economy?” Varney joined Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy on Friday to talk about Obama’s effort to “establish a continuum of high-quality early learning for a child – beginning at birth and continuing to age 5.”

“Look what the president is doing here, it’s a repeat performance of his campaign, which is you raise taxes on the rich and you offer all kinds of free stuff to people who will vote for you in the future,” Varney charged. “Free preschool education for 4 year olds, it’s free, here it is. Hand out the goodies.”

“What the president’s really doing here — because he’s not saying how he’s going to pay for this — he’s buying votes with future taxpayer money, he’s increasing the scope of the unions because it is the teachers’ union which will staff these preschools and he’s introducing big government, more big government to the states,” the Fox Business host opined.

Varney also lashed out at other elements of the president’s plan.

and/or At Will employment.

The right to organize NEEDS to be established and after it is (and that's ONLY - AFTER - the right to organize is established, in order to protect that right from being bent by corporate personhood) teachers should collaboratively OWN the parameters that define PROFESSIONALISM, not only integrated amongst themselves, but also between teachers' unions and all of the different levels of their communities, by means of the sorts of things that you can see happening on this board, only dedicated specifically to authentic PUBLIC education and learning.

-aside from constantly cutting tax cuts for the wealthy and alleged "job creators" and kicking over anthills everywhere all over the world with our military- does anything worthwhile or good for the country. Actually, they don't believe that government should really even be allowed to do anything else it seems- and they have a whole armada of rationalizations about why and they get some people to not only believe it but also to help catapault their propaganda every.darn.day and then when they see things getting worse and they're getting screwed, they are told again to blame President Obama, Democrats, progressives, et. al and are given more propaganda to endlessly recycle in chain e-mails, Facebook, etc. Wash.rinse.repeat.

One thing in particular I try to point out is that those soldiers out there "kicking over anthills everywhere all over the world" are not completely out of our control. Whose troops??? OUR troops!

For example, yeah, George Bush & Dick Cheney & a bunch of Evangelical "Christians" CAUSED the invasion and occupation of an INNOCENT country, but NOT without our enabling them. Too many of the American people assented, by turning their attention to their tvs, instead of doing whatever it took to at least TRY to stop it whether they would succeed in doing so or not.

It's NOT just "government" fucking things up; there is active involvement by outfits like the NRA. They are supporting S. 2205 currently sponsored by one of my senators, Senator Moran, but I think originally coming from Rand Paul in the 112th Congress and, now, in the Senate Foreign Relations Committe. Which legislation tries to bring the Senate under full force of threats from the NRA if any senator supports U.N. treaties that try to regulate fast-and-furious style PRIVATE assault weapons markets around the world, and especially south of our border. NRA-bots and their auxiliaries in various kinds of "Constitution" parties, in their blind ignorant fervor to fight "Big Brother" and the "New World Order" by impeding any efforts that could involve steps toward reform in the U.N. ARE PROTECTING the U.N.'s most powerful and most corrupt, more or less official, agency, the IMF, that is, the SOURCE of Disaster Capitalism around the world.

So our local brand of 2A militias claiming "Constitutional" rights to overthrow a, more or less, corrupt government and, hence, opposing all use of drones in order to protect their freelance/un-regulated militias, are ALSO supporting those who are defending the IMF and terrorism around the world.

And a lot of people who actually ARE on the right side of this drone issue will not allow you to point out the risks that they are pretending are ZERO, and completely avoid recognizing that this could have anything to do with the IMF, while still others who may or may not authentically be on the right side of this issue blather on about government propaganda supporting drones.

It isn't ALL government fucking stuff up. Corporate personhood has created some very blind bedfellows, the conditions of whose employment, or the conditions of whose attaboys and whatever other kinds of carrots there are in front of their own cart, may just include requirements such as: don't ask any questions; don't answer any questions but the ones we tell you it is okay to answer; do not speculate beyond what we tell you to say on the internet and elsewhere; don't talk about anything but what we tell you to talk about; just repeat, repeat, repeat etc. etc. etc. And if you don't think this is a possibility, I can say I have seen posts from what looks like enforcers. And there is some serious research going on, and books being written about, astro-turfing on the internet.

And one of the first things that lots of people say, some honestly, some less so, about all of the line of inquiry I sketch above is: it's government propaganda coming from a government robot.

This is why they will never win back Latinos, or women, or any minorities ever again. This is why the poor and middle class hate them.

This is why their party will slide into the dustbin of irrelevance, shrieking about filthy poors and screaming racial epithets all the way.

Anyone with a brain can see that the GOP platform is in dire need of revamping if they want to win a national election fair-and-square again. They know that they're going to have to advocate an agenda that helps people besides Mr. I Make A Million Dollars A Year, but it seems to me that they want to continue trying to sell turd sandwiches, except in fancier-looking wrapping paper. They're counting on their strategy of both gerrymandering themselves into power (such as what happened with Congress) and making it inconvenient for enough potential Democrats to vote. It's a shame because it's important for a country to have a well-functioning multi-party system, but the GOP nowadays only offers ideas that are toxic to the majority of the country. I'm starting to wonder if we're better off without them.
