GOP Rep. Brags He Was The First To Call Obama A ‘Socialist’

In a fundraising letter for his Senate campaign, Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) trumpeted the fact that he was the first member of Congress to call President Obama a "socialist."

"I was the first Member of Congress to call him a socialist who embraces Marxist-Leninist policies like government control of health care and redistribution of wealth," Broun said in the letter, obtained by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Broun made news last year when he called evolution and the Big Bang Theory "lies straight from the pit of hell." He launched his Senate campaign for retiring Sen. Saxby Chambliss' (R-GA) seat last week.

Broun's fundraising letter also boasted: "Just about every week, my friends and closest allies congratulate me and genuinely thank me for telling the truth of just how messed up this country has become under President Obama."
