(14,566 posts)it is like they intentionally look at things and take the opposite position from what is right or works.
Part of it is the reflexive nature against "liberalism."
It does not matter what it is, the moment anyone not on their side of the fence advocates for something they will knee jerk react against it.
But, even their "economic" concepts are bass ackwards.
I get someone with a lot of money supporting the republican's from a tax perspective.
That is the ONLY thing that the party actually works for.
It just is mind boggling that supposed economic minded people are relentless and totally loyal to the trickle down bullshit when it clearly does not work. And, that they are so condescending toward Democrats about SPENDING when the Republicans, clearly, not even debatable, the numbers show it beyond any dispute, are 10 times worse with spending and budgets, at least at the national level.

(8,515 posts)much of it has to do with Israel and the strong allegiance it has established with the right. I am finding more
and more evidence that the right is only interested in Israel for political cover. The link in my post certainly verifies this fact...The political points they tried to gain with their comments proves my point..
Behind the Aegis
(53,959 posts)However, I totally disagree with your assessment. There may be a number of Jewish people who favor the "right" when it comes to Israel, and for that, I completely understand. But, in reality, most Jews, have not drifted to the right over Israel and it is false propaganda spewed by the extreme left, some liberals, and the right; but it simply isn't true, and the voting records prove this time and time again. So, no, your link proves nothing of the sort. I do agree many on the right use Israel as a pawn, especially the Christian right; it is not out of love for Israel or Jews, but rather for their own selfish motivations.

(8,515 posts)exodus by Jews from the Democratic party, I realize that it improved dramatically during the last election over the SS and Medicare issues but I would still like to see some numbers...
Behind the Aegis
(53,959 posts)It will also provide numbers in relation to voting patterns with democratic candidates. Hope it helps.
Behind the Aegis
(53,959 posts)1980 -- Reagan -- 39%
1984 -- Reagan -- 31%
1988 -- Bush -- 35%
1992 -- Bush -- 11%
1996 -- Dole -- 16%
2000 -- Bush -- 19%
2004 -- Bush -- 24%
2008 -- McCain -- 22%
2012 -- Romney -- 30%
If anything, after Reagan, the numbers fell considerably, and since him, only Bush Sr. (running against Dukakis) saw numbers past 30%. Also, one has to take in consideration the votes for the democrats and well as independants.

Behind the Aegis
(53,959 posts)Just because votes don't fall to Republicans, doesn't mean Jews aren't supportive of Israel (to the hilt, or otherwise). It is a ploy (to make those claims) used by the right/conservatives to lure Jews, but it rarely has any effect. It is also employed by the left to imply disloyalty of Jews, as well as, the "complete control" Israel has over the US.

(26,060 posts)and he's nuts.....billions of dollars worth of nuts. The majority of Jews understand the scam....the right claims to worship Israel but it's merely the land they love, the land of Israel must exist for them to be able to join Jesus (or something like that, I don't really know or care). They care nothing about the Jews. We hear during every election season that there is a giant groundswell of Jews ready to shift right and every election, that gets proved wrong.

(8,515 posts)They just arent billionaires. I have posted many times that Sheldon shouldn't turn his back on the extreme right. After they feel Israel is secure for the Coming, theyll be coming after him....

(41,208 posts)Very interesting stuff. I had known that American Jews tend to vote for Democrats, but not quite how strong the tendency was. Even in the Republican landslides of 1972 and 1984, a large majority of Jewish voters chose the Democratic candidates. There doesn't seem to have been a big change with Reagan. The Republican who got the largest share of the Jewish vote was Eisenhower (40% in 1956) and the one who got the smallest was Goldwater (10% in 1964).

(25,453 posts)And they made gains in the last election. Netanyahu will remain PM by a hair, but he will have to make serious concessions to form a coalition. Israelis sent him a message that he needs to get more serious about peace.

Hardly.
I don't even know what to make of your defensive statement in using Republican labels for Liberal Elitists.

(31,828 posts)I think folks might get confused by your subject line .
It's really critical folks go read the article - here's a 4 paragraph clip -
A Commentary about the National Review by another Media Outlet -
Any serious attempt by the GOP to win black votes wont involve Republicans copycatting liberal policies. It will require going over the heads of black and white liberal slanderers to offer a sincere alternative to failed liberal policies on schools, poverty, crime, etc. The more effective that effort, the more the GOP will be called racist.
While on the surface, it might seem that the NROs criticism of Obamas reference to Nazi Germany was just another jab at their favorite Democratic punching bag, it could be much more. For the National Review, its likely that the Holocaust did in fact make a lot of sense.
