Immigration-Policy Blueprint Due This Week, Senator Says

... Sen. Richard Durbin (D., Ill.), the assistant majority leader, said he was encouraged about the work of Republicans and three Democrats on the immigration plan. Mr. Durbin added that the effort will be focused on unifying families, and will include a version of the Dream Act, which would give undocumented students a path to permanent residency status. That measure failed last year to attract enough support in Congress.
"There is a new, I think, appreciation on both sides of the aisleincluding maybe more importantly on the Republican side of the aislethat we have to enact a comprehensive immigration reform bill," Mr. McCain said on ABC's "This Week."
