Heard on public radio today that, on Monday, Obama will become only the 2nd U.S. President

to be sworn in 4 times.

Obviously, the other one was FDR. But how did Obama accomplish this?

The swearings-in:

1 - Obama sworn in 1/20/2009 - John Roberts screws up the Oath of Office, and Obama chooses not to make Roberts look bad (radio guy said Roberts AND OBAMA screwed it up)

2 - later on, Obama sworn in again in private to make sure it was officially done.

3 - Obama sworn in today, 1/20/2013, in a private ceremony

and here's why the 4th

4 - Due to the laws of this country, the public swearing in cannot take place on a Sunday (arcane, "blue laws"?) so the public swearing in will take place on Monday (which, oddly enough, is a federal holiday).

The reason that the public swearing will take place on Monday is not based on "arcane blue laws" if by that reference it is being suggested that there is a legal impediment to having the public swearing in, speech, parade, etc. on Sunday. Its a matter of tradition, not law.
