An Armed Guard at Every School?

I can't even imagine day after day, week after week, year after year a guard roaming the halls in every school in the country, waiting for the shooter. What happens when the guard has to use the bathroom, or is on the other side of the building, or is on break, etc.?
The only way I can even see this working is to have an armed guard in a look out tower, so he can view the entire grounds of the school. Then, he can alert the armed guard in the school and police. That could probably work.
Our schools will look like prison grounds. Wonder what that would do to our most young vulnerable kids being brought up with so much fear.
Of all things, cutting art, music and gym because we cannot afford it and replacing it with armed guards. Who is supposed to pay for this?

you are aware that school Obama sends his kids to(and many other DC power players send theirs to), Sidwell Friends, has their own armed security/guards present, right? (and that's apart from any secret service)

If it's such a bad idea, why does Sidell Friends think it's a good idea? Why do the parents who pay 35k a year to send their kids there think it's a good idea? SHould only rich folks be allowed to have their kids protected at school?

If armed security doesn't work and is such a bad idea why is it utilized heavily by the govt in every case where they have something they want to protect? Whenever Obama or any dignitary goes anywhere they are protected by heavily armed security. All military bases and important buildings are protected.

Of course it's not 100%, nothing is.

People bring up that Columbine had a guard. They never mention other schools that also had guards who acted and prevented attacks from happening. Ft Hood suffered a major attack and it had tons of hevaily armed guards and security. So should all military bases just get rid of all their security since it didn't work at Ft Hood?

Again, though, in my view, if armed security is ok for Sidwell Friends and many other elite private schools, I don't see why it's a bad idea for the rest of us in the "proletariat".

You want your kid to go to a school with armed guards, find one that has them and send them there.

beyond that, if you want a country where you need armed guards everywhere you go, move to Columbia.

9. I don't want run of the mill "guards", I told my husband I want a guy like him doing that job.

There are already thousands of Federal Flight Deck Officers available nationwide (although they are concentrated at major airline hub cities). They have already been through VERY EXTENSIVE background checks. Similar to those done for top secret security clearances.

Because of the Federal limitations on their flight hours, they would likely be available a couple of days a week for local work at a school. Pay them well (they will NOT work for peanuts) and if you had 2 or three in the location, you could cover the school's schedule with highly educated and well trained people that are already attending training regularly for their FFDO roles.

I have never seen a school that is not top heavy in administrators. My suggestion is for the school to take the names of every administrator in the school and put them into a hat. Draw a name out and get rid of that person. Now you have the money for security and then some and the school will not be affected at all.
