FoxNews: Get ready to celebrate Mitt Romney

Last edited Fri Mar 30, 2012, 08:10 PM - Edit history (1)

I saw the headline: Get ready to celebrate Mitt Romney!

Why, I thought, 'Why would anyone anyone be doing that? Some Democrats, I suppose, who are hoping for an easy kill, or perhaps investment banks taking a side on a longer shot, but ...'

Then I say the tag: Foxnews. Figures. But ... why. Against my better judgement I read it. I'm glad I did, for one huge LOL.

You see Romney is 'far stronger than he might appear', because he has a good plan, a strategy for winning over 'independent and swing voters'. What plan is that - a healthcare election, a Russia and Iran election? No, FoxNews has got the word from Mitt's Chief Stategist. Romney's winning plan is ... (drum roll)

THE ‘ETCH-A-SKETCH’ STRATEGY
Yep, that's the plan. FoxNews posts Feldman's now infamous remarks in full. Say what? Selected quotes below.

It is a good plan but one with potential pitfalls for a candidate who is seen by his own base as a flip-flopper and inauthentic ...

On the other hand, the ‘Etch-a-Sketch’ strategy does look good with independent and swing voters. They are the heart of an increasingly cynical electorate – they don’t expect politicians to tell the truth.

And most swing voters have not begun to seriously pay attention to the presidential campaign yet. A Gallup poll from last fall found that only 35 percent of Americans say they follow national politics very closely. After Romney becomes the presumptive nominee, they will begin to pay attention.

When voters are laser-focused on jobs and fiscal issues, they may well ignore Romney’s past inconsistencies if they like the economic message he will drive home before Election Day.

So my takeaway is 'independent and swing voters ... don’t expect politicians to tell the truth', and the base doesn't care, when comes to shove. 'Well Juan' most of the electorate may expect lies, but the public does not like being told that they are going to be lied to.

September 1st 2012 is Etch A Sketch Day. Pure Genius.

The tend to get more accurate the closer to the election, but they like playing fast and loose with the facts while still months and weeks ahead. They are one of the biggest Republican shills around.

What will Romney do to change the game this time?

Bet you Republicans can hardly wait to see what your entire campaign is going to be about.

Me too!

Love surprises.

Just Counting the days until Romney surprises us all.

...is that it assumes the Romney is any better at effectively portraying himself as a mainstream businessman than he was portraying himself as a Tea Party firebrand. I don't think he's appealing in any guise.

Which is going to be pretty funny, as he's being advised by Bushco.
