2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe Democrats need a strategy soon.
Are they going to oppose Donald Trump for not making public his income tax statements and his international business holdings AND for not putting his business into a blind trust, not including his family, sometime well before he is to be inaugurated?
They need to start applying pressure now, in my opinion. Perhaps they will wait until after Nancy is nominated Minority Leader?
They cannot stand idly by and watch him sworn in as President under these circumstances. It must not be permitted.

But they need to get on the ball to let the Republicans know that it is totally unacceptable for Mr Trump to think he doesn't have to support our Constitution. We cannot permit them to think that.
In order for a government to be legitimate, it must have the consent of the governed. With the latest reports on the people that have voted, it does not appear that Mr Trump has the majority? The Democratic Party should demand that he fix this problem immediately.

(9,123 posts)and Dems have no power accept the filibuster, there are really big issues and appointments upcoming that need prioritizing. I've received emails asking what my priorities are. I hope they know more than I how to expose his corruption and massive conflicts of interests.
Should Dems work with some establishmen GOP to prevent Kleptocracy on a grand scale? I think they have to.

(31,173 posts)it obviously doesn't matter to his supporters. The strategy the Dems really need (IMO) is in marketing and communications messages, and choosing the right spokespeople to deliver it in time for 2018 midterms.

So, yeah, not releasing his tax returns had zero impact.

(35,344 posts)heard a couple Democrats say we will co-operate with Trump on some things like his infrastructure plan. I said fuck Trump they should oppose everything he wants to do. Obama has had an infrastructure bill for years and they wouldn't pass it. Well the Trumpster got pissed and said they might as well shoot all of them then. I told him the Republicans opposed everything Obama did for 8 years what goes around comes around. Now Republicans think Democrats should compromise, fuck Trump.
He got pissed and stormed out.
