Related: About this forumI am in tremendous pain... sorry needed to vent out
I love my country to soul and never imagined this country will be handed over to a racist, ... I really tried my best to do whatever that was possible, my respects and apologies to Khizr Khan Sir... Sir you tried and so many of us... Sorry we could not get what we all wanted as a democratic nation... we did win majority votes but that was not enough... In Future, I don't know what will happen... we all have no where to go but to be here and fight for love, freedom and independence, our country has given... I will fight to my best in 2018 and onwards... I will try my best to produce results for you Sir...

(11,833 posts)do what we can to listen to each other in the so-called clinton camp, the so-called obama coalition and the so-called sanders camp and even with those who didn't vote. Because in 2018 (and every single local election) we're going to need all the votes we can get. I've rarely helped influence anyone by insulting them. Conversely, when someone tries to bully or strong-arm me it has the opposite effect.

(10,722 posts)which is specifically the demographic that trump won. My only explanation is that we grew up in a "normalized" condition of racism, homophobia and misogyny; it was just in the air. I could never tolerate it and rather isolated myself, but most of the people I knew probably breathed it in and found themselves not particularly harmed. So when it comes to electing a racist, homophobic misogynist, perhaps they think its not so bad - they don't think of themselves as bad people, and imagine that its no big deal, really.
I'd rather burn the whole thing down than go through that again, to be honest, but I have some belief that things have changed and there is no going back. The sunlight is too good, for those that can see it, to go back to the dark. Our culture is what we decide it is.

I'm still in denial & bargaining.
Yes, I'm angry too. I just can't read too much about it yet. I think I'm still in shock. I may be for a few years. As a character in a novel once said 'History is a nightmare from which I'm trying to awake.'
Toni Morrison's article in the New Yorker this week really expresses how I feel well.

Please know you are far from alone. Millions of us feel this way too. A majority of our country feels this way, in some way or another.
