'Game Change 2012' sequel ('Double Down') is due next fall

'Game Change 2012' sequel is due next fall

Penguin Press announced Tuesday that it will publish Double Down: Game Change 2012 by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann next fall. HBO has already optioned the rights to the book, which will report on the battle between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama for the presidency.

HBO's Game Change, based on the authors' book of the same name about the 2008 election, starred Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin and won five Emmy Awards earlier this year. It was one of the most viewed original movies in the network's history.

"John Heilemann and Mark Halperin reinvented the campaign narrative with Game Change," Penguin's Ann Godoff said in a statement. "Their new book, Double Down, will, of course, break news. But more importantly, it will create the lasting story of the 2012 race for the presidency."

HBO Options Rights To 'Double Down' - On 2012 Presidential Campaign

-snip-

Penguin (the publisher) announced today that the authors of Game Change, Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, are writing a sequel of sorts to that novel, titled Double Down: Game Change 2012, which will detail the most recent presidential election campaign. I think we all know how that one turned out.

And further revealed is that HBO, which of course broadcast Game Change, is going in for seconds, and has optioned the movie rights to Double Down.

It makes sense, given how successful the first film was, taking home 5 Emmy Awards.

Double Down will be published in the Fall of 2013 before it's adapted by HBO, so look for the movie version in 2014.

Game Change was a great movie. They are going to have to work hard to top that.

Who would play Romney and Ryan?

I'm thinking for Paul Ryan, Ryan Reynolds, Not sure who for Romney.
