Email from a Republican Friend

This is an Email I received from a Friend, Not sure who wrote it but it does explained why they lost So Big.

I have not watched a "national news" show since election night. I have resigned myself to looking inward. As to what "I" can do, I am not sure. What I do know is that what we once took for granted, will ever be gone.
If you have a real solution that can be implemented, I would like to hear it. Take a moment and think of the millions who voted
away the opportunities that this country once offered. You now get to pay for their new agenda for America.

We are now officially a Third World Country thanks to our ignorant
voters. Sad indeed.
The American Dream ended on November 6 in Ohio. The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind.
A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays, Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood, uninformed young people, the "forever needy," the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other "fellow travelers" has ended Norman Rockwell's America. The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch; the Pit Bull is in the back yard!
The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Lewinsky's "Rules for Radicals," and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod, along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their black puppet to bring us into the New World Order!

Our side ran two candidates who couldn't even win their own Home
States, and Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing "post Sandy" tribute that elevated the "Commander-in Chief" to Mother Teresa status.

People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will seldom again comment on or concern myself with the
aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our
heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired!

You will never again outvote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away.

It will take zealots, not moderates, not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.

Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to "white guilt" and political correctness.

I would never consider someone who wrote and/or posted this a friend. I would never want to be considered connected to someone with these ideas. He comes across as an ignorant bigot, with issues of spite, and probably a "Christian," who would run over his mother if he thought it would help himself (the white male). I would love to debate this guy, because I honestly do not think he could hold his own point.

That though I agree that it is best to look for the "Best Possible Outcome/System", one should learn how to figure out how to get there with a basis on honesty and reality.

Sadly, some are stuck in a backwards vision of America or an America that existed only in their minds, not dealing with the current realities and a historical context of what was.

We are on our way to a 3rd world america due to the policies enacted during the 80s(and older), dinged in the 90s(e.g. Clinton repeal of Glass-Steagall), exacerbated in the 00s and continuing so due to unreasonable and dishonest obstruction.

The Norman Rockwell vision of America is a highly pictorialized and sanitized version of things, showing a lifestyle that is idealic but homogeneous. America is far more varied and complex than that. They have to understand that America is not just build upon the legacies of White Christian Males, it was built in the backs of everyone else who was working from the bottom up. That would include all the groups that little opinion derides.

The current Republican party and its adherents is a clown show that is unable to give substantive factual answers to simple questions like dealing with arithmetic.

-I would probably have happily considered Huntsman with Colbert.-

Even if one accepts the fallacy of:

the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind

He is not one of those "white Christian males." He is, in fact, a present victim of the mentality of those "white Christian males", in that they applied the same strategy to him that the did in the early days of this nation.

But that said, you can always invite him to move to another sparsely populated region, explore it, pioneer it, settle it and develop it into the next greatest Republic in the history of mankind. All it took was being white Christian and male.

Wed Dec 12, 2012, 09:14 PM

Some white males did actual hard back-breaking work in building the country, but many others cracked whips while unpaid and enslaved Africans build much of it. Some white males stood and "oversaw" grossly underpaid Asian workers break their backs lifting railroad ties and digging mines, or took advantage of immigrant Latinos, also grossly underpaid, as they harvested crops and did other jobs that was beneath the dignity of white males. All that happened, but we can't forget about all of the native Americans that had to be cleared out of the way first. Yeah, white males did all the work building the country alright, in their imaginings, of what they think the country was like back in the day. That's the country these Faux Noise-influenced, non-progressive whites want to take back. Well, the poster is right about one thing. It ain't gonna happen. The Koch brothers and their ilk are using the low info tools/fools and money to try to go back to that time but those days are way over.

May I recommend this book? It examines the myths of the Ozzie & Harriett, Father Knows Best false memory of the past and explains how these TV-based images were NOT the norm. It's an interesting read as well as a good base for understanding the right-wing wish list for a time that never existed in reality. The RW is desperate to hold on to their illusion of superiority and power and have invented a phony history to support it.

See, for instance, the works Rockwell did for Look magazine, Murder in Mississippi and the better-known The Problem We All Live with. The first is about the lynching of three civil rights workers, the second about school desegregation.

As for the email, just google a phrase out of it and you'll find it's making the rounds of the Internets, at all the usual sites.

In any event, no matter how many times the piece is posted, it's still the usual ignorant twaddle, devoid of any sense of history -- any sense, period.

It is clear that nomadic peoples from Asia came to the North American continent and their offspring built tremendous civilizations including the Aztecs and the Incas. The "new world" had already been discovered when the Puritans arrived at Plymouth Rock.

Or, if you want to take a different approach, it is clear the the Vikings were possibly the first Europeans to discover the new continent. They may have been "white" but they were not Christian. They were pagan.

If the American Dream is for every boy to grow up to do better than his daddy did and to be able to raise a family on one paycheck...that died with Reagan's first tax cut.

Norman Rockwell's America existed on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post, and Mayberry only in Andy Griffith's imagination. That so many Republicans bemoan the passing of that which never was is troubling to say the least.
