But I say talking about the economy. They had no hope of blaming Dems in 2008, the thing blew up weeks to go before the election and the gop had been running the show for 8 years. They had nowhere to hide. The 2010 results and the tea party is where their expectations and reality parted ways.

They bet the house on being able to pin the sluggish economy on Obama. The President kept the idea of taxing the rich in the discussion. The long campaign and intense scrutiny revealed the flaws in their arguments, and repeatedly defending the rich (to this day) made them look out of touch.
