(16,386 posts)My only complaint is that I've gotten soooo many door-knockers, but that's ok. I kind of think my house is a waste of time since I've got Democratic signs in my yard. I'm sort of obvious.

(70,282 posts)2:30 this afternoon--just as the news broke.
Lots of excited Dems as I knocked on doors--ready to vote for Hillary (some not). But they are jumping with glee.

(15,806 posts)Also, our local office will be staffed by volunteers on election day, 7am - 7pm, answering phones, making sure people know where to drop ballots, arranging rides for voters who need to get to a drop location. Also have a team comprised of members of the legal profession who will be observing at polling places to ensure against intimidation, etc.
I worked the office in '08, it was an amazing experience. And four years ago we had canvassers who were knocking doors until the very last minute -- and they DID convince some non-voters to change their minds and vote. We do have a big case of the awesome!

(200 posts)These were all registered democrats in a predominately white working class neighborhood in Pennsylvania. We came across some angry Trump supporters, but also many happy Hillary supporters. All in all, I witnessed the demographic shift first-hand today. Many blue collar white men were not happy with Hillary and generally bitter & rude (but not all). The majority of blue collar white women were proud to support Hillary. ALL of the Hispanic households that we approached were enthusiastically supporting Hillary. An interesting day indeed. I think we are in for a good night on Tuesday!

(42,371 posts)and I hate talking to people on the phone. But a victory in FL means that much.
DS and his friends are canvassing in suburban Philly, driving up from DC every weekend.
We know what's at stake here.

(5,126 posts)I wish I had done more this year.
Today my son, age 9 and I attended a family event in a nearby town. On the way, I passed my neighbors house with a newly planted "Trump that Bitch" sign. I was upset the entire time, thinking about the busload of kids that would be going past it in the morning. After the event, we headed north to a liberal College town to find an HRC office. We drove around and found a "NextGenClimate" office with "Stop Trump" signs in the window. They were really nice, gave my son a tee-shirt and some other things, which he offered his allowance money for but they refused. They weren't canvassing, mostly working the College. They did point me in the direction of the HRC office. We got our canvass packet and headed out with another volunteer. Once we returned, my son got a "Love Trumps Hate" sign and a "Her Story" button, which he again offered to purchase but was given with a smile of appreciation from an extremely nice gentleman. I did knock on 3 doors that were for Trump, but they were polite.

(377 posts)For the races we win, we can say a job well done, for those we loose, we know we did the best we could.
There is something for everyone to do. Contact your local Democratic headquarters. They can use help phone calling, door knocking, cleaning the office, setting up for the election watch party, providing food and beverage for the volunteers. Just ask and they will find a job for you. Just 2 more days.
Thanks to everyone who shows up. As Thom Hartman says, Democracy is a team sport, tag, your it!

(6 posts)I phonebanked today in southern california, and there must have been two hundred people there making calls! There were little kids volunteering, bringing candies to every table. The staff kept bringing homebaked goods too. I cannot imagine this kind of atmosphere at a trump campaign. We will win this because we work together!

(23,337 posts)But I made gotv calls today at my local democratic hq. I almost talked myself out of it because I was so scared...but I did it, and I'm glad. I got yelled at once but most of the folks I talked to were great and understood the gravity of this election. I spoke to one man, 91 years old and still living on his own in Gardiner, MT. He had never missed an election except when he had been deployed with the army and he told me he wasn't missing this election for anything! He was an inspiration and he made my day.
