2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt is absolutely chilling that the director of the FBI has intervened
in a presidential election in such a ham-handed way.
Aside from all the ethical and political implications for this current election, it makes me wonder what else the FBI director might be doing in terms of undermining and disrupting legal dissent he finds inconvenient to the interests of his Republican friends.
If he's willing to be so public about his obvious political agenda, what might he be doing below the radar to give comfort to his friends and discomfort to his perceived opponents?
Congressional investigations in the 1970s revealed a widespread pattern of FBI dirty tricks and interference with legal dissent during the 1950s and '60s. I'm thinking it's time for another such investigation, given the obvious political bias of the FBI leadership in this election, and its willingness to act in ethically questionable ways in service to that bias.

(413 posts)Obama and Lynch need to come down on him hard, if he thinks he got away with it this time next time will be worse.
I wouldn't put it past him to arrest Hillary the day before the Election and after Trump won release her and say oh well.

(16,887 posts)I don't know what Comey is doing...I thought Comey was a GOPer of some integrity. Based on what he is doing, I have no respect for him and feel he should be removed from his job and that he be investigated.
When he went against Ashcroft I thought this man is a committed law enforcement person who cares about the truth and justice, not party or politics.
What he is doing makes no sense and is outrageous - if he was really such a maverick set on "truth and justice" he would be announcing a massive investigation into Trump's connections to Russia and much more...
