Trumpsters and Jobs

I keep reading about how the Trumpsters talk about jobs and lack thereof. Well, there are plenty of jobs out there, but many need the some kind of training or skill, which few of them have.

They don't seem to accept that the world is changing. Many jobs require basic computer skills, and/or the ability to run machines. You can find many jobs if you have these skills, and they don't seem to want to relearn them.

many Trumpsters are older people who had jobs in the old industries and those positions have left them as companies gear up to modern equipment. They don't want to relearn. They just think that the world owes them a job.

Early last century, as the automobile started to gain a foothold, many of the horse and carriage jobs disappeared and as much as those people wanted their jobs to come back, modern technology (new automotive and airplane) was moving in a different directions. Those horse and buggy jobs were going to be few and far between.

If they really are serious about working in the modern world, they are going to have to go with the flow and learn some of the new technologies. It really isn't that hard, and there are lots of different categories that they can learn and work in.

Even my job today is changing quickly. I am 61 and have to learn to adapt. Before two years ago, us programmers would write programs that would work on desktops and basic laptops. But now, we are having to learn how to program for Mobile devices and much more web design instead of basic desktop applications. We have to adjust and I think they have to too, if they want to continue to be a part of the modern world.

Had to up date my skill set four different times. And the last at 52,just to keep pace with new Technology. All one has to do is,go to your local Vocational School,it is affordable or free in many situations,did it four different times.

Everything with Trump supporters goes back to racism.

Hillary and Trump could have identical platforms except for how minorities are treated and they'd overwhelming vote Trump.

8. Don't underestimate the power of good ole fashioned laziness.

I think a lot of Trumpophiles are too damn lazy to get the requisite education and training required to compete in the modern economy, just like they were too busy goofing off and fixing their trucks to get good grades back in high school.

It's a lot easier to sit back and say the system is rigged against them than to actually get up off of their invariably massive butts and work at it. Unfortunately, it seems as though their intellectual laziness is even worse than their physical laziness.

I have a couple of friends out of work and have been for a while. They can't find a job but can practically tell you verbatim what druggie Rush and insHannity said on their shows.

...this thread strikes me as somewhat unfair, and lacking in empathy.

The Trump supporters I know here in Mass (yes, I know some and still talk to them!) are mostly small business owners. They work pretty darned hard. I don't know why they think Trump would be better for them, business wise, it makes no sense to me, but they do, and they aren't lazy or looking for anything to be handed to them.

I work in IT myself, and, and have for 30 years, so I don't find new technology very intimidating, I've been learning new technical skills for decades. I know how to learn them. I don't think it is so easy for someone who has never had to deal with it.

Back in 2001 to early 2005, during the "dotcom bust", my husband (both in IT) and I had a long bout of on and off unemployment...first him, then me, then him, then me, then both of us....there was NO work in IT around here. Pretty terrifying, we had a mortgage and three kids and DH's child support to pay. Fortunately, because we HAD been pulling in two six figure salaries, we had savings, but they wouldn't have lasted long if things hadn't turned around. I'd have been more employable in another field than DH (I have a liberal arts degree and an MBA, to his strictly technical undergrad and grad degrees), but supporting our whole household on a single, smaller, salary, would have sucked. Personally, I've lead a pretty privileged life, in terms of level of education, opportunities, etc... That experience taught my family a bit of humility, and empathy. Imagine how much harder it would be without all the education, without the savings, without working in an industry that bounced back.

I do NOT think that Trump is the answer to the ills of those unable to find a decent job, Clinton is far more likely to move things in better direction, but painting them all as lazy, looking for a handout, unwilling to learn, etc...really isn't fair. That sounds more than a bit like some long time right wing talking points about minorities.

11. Trump never gave them jobs making the steel for his buildings, making his ties, suits or shirts

that sell at Macy's with his name on them.
He imports workers to build Trump Tower and staff his golf courses in Florida.
If he never gave a white working class guy a job doing anything for him before what makes them think he'll do it now?
