Now that Republican House member Tom Cole (OK) agrees with Obama on extending the Bush tax cuts for those making less than 250K, which other Republican House members, if any, are most likely to come on board and also agree to pass those tax cut extensions?

(3,539 posts)pressing the reset button. Sure it might be a bit painful at first, but it would allow all us to stand back and design a tax code that supports both responsible capitalism and promotes the common good.
Any ill effects incurred by going over the 'cliff' can be dealt with after January first.
Oh wait; who am I kidding. The only way we can reach a reasonable tax structure would be if the good fairy whisked away all of the Teapublicans. To them the needs of the few (the corporate masters that line their pockets) far outweigh the needs of the many.

(666 posts)tax cuts for 98% of americans. Because if they pass this and nothing else is done tax rates go up only on the two highest tax brackets whereas by not voting on it tax rates go up on everyone.
As far as letting us go off the cliff (slope whatever) it is not necessarily a win-win so as they say "BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR".
