Letters: Pro-Life Forgetting Complete Issue
These folks are hard to understand. They are extremely concerned about the health and welfare of the union of two cells that come together, yet they are not in the least concerned about the health and welfare of life existence that eventually results from this union. Pro-lifers are violently against providing health care for uninsured American citizens and not at all moved by the fact that more than 45,000 U.S. citizens die each year for lack of adequate health care.
They profess to be Christians and believe strongly in the literal interpretation of the Bible, but they dont accept the Bibles concept that life begins with the first breath of a being. Also, they ignore Jesus teaching of helping the sick and the poor.
I dont think that people who worry about the merger of two cells while ignoring thousands of deaths due to lack of health care, botched and illegal abortions, suicides due to unwanted pregnancies and child abuse qualify as being titled pro-life. Pro-death might be a better title.

I hope this is the beginning of a trend. This is a very conservative area and to see something like this published is really surprising.

(75,480 posts)this letter made sense, was respectful, and chose to publish it as an opposing opinion to the one usually promoted. I used to manage to get LTTE published in a very conservative paper up in Idaho. Although, they disagreed with everything I had to say about women's rights and environmental damage, I kept it classy and they felt the obligation to publish a dissenting opinion because they did believe in presenting both sides of an argument as part of their journalistic responsibility. I hope you dissenters keep up the good work.

(31,518 posts)This is not the normal tone that a LTE takes in this part of the state. I tell you, it can be pretty lonely living liberal in a RW stronghold.
