Could Obama come out and force the FBI to announce what "evidence" they have instead of leaving everyone twisting in the wind a week before election day?

Could Obama force them to reveal what they know about Trump?

If he is seen as interfering in any way, it could easily backfire against both his reputation and Democratic chances in this election. Also, if the FBI is forced to make public their findings, they might easily use it as an excuse to open up everything, including the previous investigation, which Comey shut down in July. This would open up a whole can of worms, which will absolutely not be finished before the election.

The FBI director does not answer to the President but to the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence. Certainly President Obama can pressure the AG to stop the situation but then it will look like President Obama is trying to directly influence the election through the use of his office and would create another problem.

Be assured that backdoor people are working on this situation but to come straight out and interfere with the FBI would not be a good thing to do right now.

Here's how I see it.

Option 1: Do nothing now. Fire Comey once Hillary is certified as the winner.

Option 2: Do nothing now. Call in AG Lynch to begin a highly confidential investigation of Comey and his ties to and communication with the GOP in connection with his statement last week. Then fire Comey once Hillary is certified as the winner.

Option 3: Follow options 1 or 2, and then let Hillary fire Comey on January 20.

Option 4: Follow options 1, 2, or 3, but, through AG Lynch release details this week of the FBI investigation into Trump's ties with Russia.

Option 5: Do nothing. Comey continues to be pilloried in the press and he's allows to retain what little dignity he has left and resigns when Hillary is sworn in.

My preference: Option 2 and 4.
